ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Alice Coachman Davis, the first black female to win Olympic gold, died Monday. She was 90 years old. Coachman Davis suffered a stroke in April, and died at an Albany hospital Monday morning.

Gulfport's Brittney Reese, who won a gold medal Wednesday in the women's long jump at the 2012 London Olympics, is scheduled to arrive home today, and a huge crowd is expected to greet her. Gulfport's Brittney Reese is poised to bring a women's long jump medal home from the Olympics in Beijing. "Right now," Reese said in an e-mail from China, "I'm very excited and blessed." Reese had the best qualifying mark on Tuesday, a leap of 22 feet, 6½ inches, but the 12 competitors left will start with a clean slate Friday night at the "Bird's Nest" National Stadium.
