Google executive Wael Ghonim, who emerged as a leading voice in Egypt's uprising, was barred from the stage in Tahrir Square on Friday by security guards, an AFP photographer said. Google's Middle East Marketing Director, Wael Ghonim, the Egyptian activist who helped organize the protests that started Egypt's uprising, was freed from detention on Monday. Mr. Ghonim is currently being hailed by the mainstream media as a hero and symbol of the Egyptian revolution.
