SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine – A beloved K9 suffering from seizures and arthritis received a final salute and a police escort, with lights flashing, to the Maine vet clinic where he was euthanized. Dozens of officers and firefighters turned out this month to pay their respects to Sultan, a 13-year-old German shepherd who sniffed out drugs and bad guys with the Yarmouth Police Department. Officers gave a last pat or scratch to the dog. Then they provided an escort for Sultan's final trip to a veterinary clinic.

Burlington police aren’t saying anything, but one of their officers shot and killed a local woman late yesterday(Tues) morning in front of her house, after responding to a report of a domestic disturbance. The victim has been identified as 34-year old Autumn Steele of 104 South Garfield. The officer who shot her has not been named by the state Division of Criminal Investigation, which is now in charge of the case. CRANFORD, N.J. (WABC) -- Three New Jersey police officers sprang into action to save a choking dog. On Friday night, Cranford police received a frantic 9-1-1 call reporting a choking dog in the field adjacent to Walnut Avenue School. During a game of catch, Leo, a Great Dane/Shepherd mix weighing over 140 pounds, began choking and couldn't breathe when a tennis ball became lodged in his throat. The a-holes have been posting Arabic characters and deleting photos and adoption applications. So far we have determined no personal or financial has been stolen. A 3-year-old German shepherd named Max that went missing following an attack by a pit bull named Red in Sacramento is back home with his family, FOX40 reported. Authorities are searching for an “aggressive” mountain lion that killed a German shepherd in a Fontana backyard Wednesday and kept returning to the home despite being shot at by police. A DANGEROUS rescue dog which was on the verge of being destroyed has been saved after it fell in love - with a goose. Rex the German Shepherd was so vicious it would take two people to feed him - one to distract him and the other to throw a bowl of food into his enclosure. He would bark and growl at anything that passed and would even try to poke his head through his run to eat wild rabbits which roamed past. But when introduced to Geraldine the goose the dog immediately mellowed and the two became inseparable.

Holding herself above ground with her elbows, she slowly crawled out to safety. <p>Police say officers were trying to stop Kenneth McNeal, 21, who they say was trespassing in Williams Park while walking a dog, which was on a leash. When McNeal ignored officers' verbal directions to stop so they could question him, they tried to physically detain him. Police say there was a struggle, then McNeal let go of the leash and the dog tried to bite one of the officers.</p>
