President Biden edged out former President Trump in a poll released this week, leading by just 1 point. Biden’s support is between 45 percent and 49 percent against each Republican running for the White House, including the narrow lead over Trump. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R), however, has a 2-point edge over the sitting president, according to a Fox News poll. And former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley tops Biden by 4 points, the survey shows Fox News also noted that the poll results, published Wednesday, mark the first time this cycle that Trump has fared worse against Biden than the...

in my view, President Trump’s performance was measured, on message, and controlled. Thus, for any remaining undecided voters and Republican-oriented voters who may have been discouraged by the president’s chaotic first debate, Trump’s performance Thursday night likely reassured them and may even have led some to resolve to cast ballots in his favor. Moreover, the president’s performance reinforces an argument I made in a Fox News op-ed earlier this week: that Biden is ahead, but his victory is not a forgone conclusion. And make no mistake, it is within the realm of possibility that Trump will stage a comeback that...

Hillary Clinton jumped 5 percentage points in a head-to-head matchup with Donald Trump over the weekend, even though voters think Trump would do more to grow the economy if he is elected president, according to a new Morning Consult poll. Well over two-fifths of registered voters (44 percent) said they would choose the presumptive Democratic nominee if the presidential election were held now, while 39 percent said they would choose Trump. Almost one-fifth of respondents (18 percent) don’t know or have no opinion. It’s a 3-point gain for Clinton, who had lost ground in our previous poll following the mass...

Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney leads in new CNN/Time polls of the first four states on the Republican presidential nominating calendar -- Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina and Florida -- though in Iowa and South Carolina, Herman Cain runs a close second. Cain, the former CEO of Godfather's Pizza, runs second in each of the four states, and in three of the four states, Rep. Ron Paul, R-Texas, runs third. Notably, the best that Texas Gov. Rick Perry can manage in any of the states is a tie for third. Taken collectively, the polls show that -- despite Cain's slight...

"In previous posts, we have seen why national primary polls need to be viewed with skepticism. With few people paying attention early on, name recognition becomes a bigger factor than it will be on voting day. National primary polls also fail to account for the impact that winning (or losing) early states has on the candidates' support. But national primary polls can be useful in comparing apples to apples: If two candidates both have high name recognition, the one leading in the poll is probably in a stronger position. The same is true for comparing two candidates who lack name...

Do you need some motivation to get you to the polls today? I do. And here's mine. As you know, I've been extremely disappointed by the Republicans who have been in control of Congress and the presidency since 2001. They waited far too long to act on border security. They increased spending beyond imagination. Far too often, they talked and acted like Democrats. I've been a strong advocate of not voting for the lesser to two evils as a means of stimulating more competition in the political marketplace. But I'd like to present the other side of that story today,...

WASHINGTON - Just 20 days until Election Day, the latest NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll finds approval of the GOP-held Congress is at its lowest mark in 14 years, the Republican Party's favorability rating is at an all-time low and President George W. Bush's approval rating remains mired in the 30s -- all ominous signs for a party trying to maintain control of Congress. In fact, according to the poll, Republicans are in worse shape on some key measures than Democrats were in 1994, when they lost their congressional majorities.
