The results are in from last summer’s attempt to test new technology that would provide the Pentagon with a lightning-fast vehicle, capable of delivering a military strike anywhere in the world in less than an hour. ZAPATA - A Texas sheriff says an American tourist was shot in Mexican waters after being approached by two boats of armed men. Zapata County Sheriff Sigifredo Gonzalez said Thursday that a 30-year-old man and his wife were riding jet skis back from Mexico when the gunmen approached. SpaceX will attempt to launch their privately-developed Falcon 1 rocket for the third time Saturday evening, the company announced just hours before the appointed liftoff time. The 70-foot-tall two-stage rocket is on track for blastoff at 7 p.m. EDT (2300 GMT) Saturday, the opening of a five-hour launch window that extends until midnight EDT (0400 GMT) Sunday, according to a SpaceX statement.

A peregrine falcon named Cielo has died after the 2-month-old bird likely crashed into San Jose City Hall where she and her family have been living on a ledge.
