On Thursday, I had a long phone conversation with a politician in Mexico. Forgive me for using "a source familiar with the situation" rather than giving you his name. Trust me that this guy knows the situation, and I cannot give you his name. We discussed the potential change from President Trump to Biden regarding U.S.-Mexico policies. Let me summarize the conversation by saying my friend is sure that a President Biden is going to get an earful from President Andrés López-Obrador about the border. In other words, Mexico is very happy that they've shut down their southern border and...

Senate Republicans are sending a clear message to President Trump: The election is over and Joe Biden won. While Trump is digging in and showing little sign of ending his public campaign despite a long losing streak in the courts, GOP senators - from leadership on down - are signaling they view the election result as settled and want to move on without a messy weeks-long fight. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) publicly congratulated Biden during a Senate floor speech, in his first public acknowledgement of the former vice president's victory. He subsequently urged Senate Republicans during a caucus...

More Americans voted in 2020 than in any other presidential election in 120 years. About 67% of eligible voters cast ballots this year, but that still means a third did not. That amounts to about 80 million people who stayed home. To better understand what motivates these nonvoters, NPR and the Medill School of Journalism commissioned Ipsos to conduct a survey of U.S. adults who didn't vote this year. The Medill school's graduate students did deep dives into various aspects of the survey here. Nonvoters' reasons for not voting include: not being registered to vote (29%) not being interested in...

No one should mistake William P. Barr’s resignation as a principled act to dissociate himself from a president whose conduct has passed the limit of what the attorney general could tolerate: As, respectively, a former colleague of Barr’s in a past Justice Department and an adversary of his in his current role, we certainly do not.

Newsmax TV anchor John Bachman finally declared that President-elect Joe Biden is, in fact, the president-elect, marking a massive step for the ardently pro-Trump network on their path to facing the reality that President Donald Trump lost his 2020 re-election bid.

Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger (R) ordered an audit of voter signatures on absentee ballots in Cobb County on Monday, a move that will have no effect on the outcome of the presidential election in Georgia. According to Raffensperger, allegations that the signature-matching process in Cobb County had not been done properly were received by his office. Raffensperger said at a press conference he may also order a statewide audit, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. The audit in Cobb County will take two weeks, the paper reported, and may be able to show if signatures on absentee ballot-envelopes match signatures...

President Trump announced that Attorney General William Barr will be leaving the Trump administration just before Christmas. "Just had a very nice meeting with Attorney General Bill Barr at the White House. Our relationship has been a very good one, he has done an outstanding job! As per letter, Bill will be leaving just before Christmas to spend the holidays with his family," Trump tweeted on Monday afternoon. "Deputy Attorney General Jeff Rosen, an outstanding person, will become Acting Attorney General. Highly respected Richard Donoghue will be taking over the duties of Deputy Attorney General. Thank you to all!" Barr's...

The 538 members of the Electoral College are meeting today to cast ballots for president based on the election results in their states, formalizing Joseph R. Biden Jr.’s victory. This year, Mr. Biden won states with 306 electoral votes, and President Trump won 232. Despite Mr. Trump’s refusal to concede defeat, every state has certified its election results and appointed electors pledged to the candidate who carried its votes.

Joe Biden rarely misses Sunday Mass. So it was notable when the President-elect didn't attend church on November 29, the first Sunday of Advent and the beginning of the season when Roman Catholics like Biden prepare for Christmas. Biden's absence was understandable, since just a day earlier he had broken his foot. But the following weekend, Biden was back at his home parish in Wilmington, Delaware -- St. Joseph on the Brandywine -- for Saturday's vigil Mass. He was there again on Tuesday on the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception, a holy day of obligation. That's a level of devotion...

A Fox News poll released Friday found mixed reviews about President Trump's job performance over the last few years, with a majority ultimately saying they thought the United States was worse off now than it was four years ago. Fifty-five percent of voters in the the poll said they believe the U.S. is worse off now than it was four years ago, while nearly a third — 32 percent — said it was better off and 11 percent said it was the same.

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — President Donald Trump lost a Wisconsin lawsuit Friday seeking to disqualify more than 221,000 ballots and overturn his loss to Democrat Joe Biden in the battleground state, the latest in a string of legal defeats. Reserve Judge Stephen Simanek ruled against every argument Trump made challenging ballots in the state’s two largest counties, saying the election was properly administered and there was no wrongdoing as the president alleged.

Georgia Lt. Gov. Geoff Duncan on Sunday said President-elect Joe Biden won his state and that the facta show it despite claims from President Trump and some of his supporters of the opposite. The Georgia Republican said his message to those who doubt the election results would be "the facts and figures" "If I had a chance to spend five minutes with every single person in Georgia that doubted the election results, I think I'd be able to win their hearts over, show them the facts and figures, separate fact from fiction" he said during an interview on CNN's "State...

Georgia recertified its election results on Friday as Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger's office debunked a recently surfaced video that appeared to show illegal ballot-counting without supervisors. The Fulton County Board of Registration and Elections adjourned a meeting Friday in which members voted to recertify the results of the 2020 presidential race in favor of President-elect Joe Biden in a 3-2 voice vote. Much of the meeting focused on a video that went viral Thursday, which political commentators claimed showed Fulton County election officials illegally stuffing ballots -- a form of election fraud in which more ballots are counted than...

WASHINGTON (AP) — President-elect Joe Biden says he is keeping Dr. Anthony Fauci on as a chief medical adviser and a member of his COVID-19 advisory team. Biden made the comments Thursday during an interview with CNN’s Jake Tapper. He said he spoke with Fauci earlier in the day about the need to instill confidence in any coronavirus vaccine and the fact that “you don’t have to close down the economy” to combat the virus. Biden says he’d be “happy” to get a vaccine in public to prove its safety. The president-elect said it was also his “inclination" that, on...

LAS VEGAS (AP) — The Nevada Supreme Court made Joe Biden’s win in the state official on Tuesday, approving the state's final canvass of the Nov. 3 election. The unanimous action by the seven nonpartisan justices sends to Democratic Gov. Steve Sisolak results that will deliver six electoral votes from the western U.S. battleground state to Biden. The court action drew extra scrutiny amid legal efforts by the state GOP and Trump campaign to prevent sending vote-by-mail ballots to all 1.82 million active registered voters and then to stop the counting of the 1.4 million votes that were cast.

BALLINA, Ireland - Some 3,000 miles east of Delaware, nestled inland from Ireland's wild Atlantic coast, lies the small town of Ballina, the ancestral home of President-elect Joe Biden. Since his projected win, the close-knit town of 10,000 people in County Mayo has erupted in joy over the success of the man they claim as their own. American flags fly on street corners, a large painted Biden mural overlooks the town square, while photographs of a beaming Biden hang proudly in shop windows, with slogans that read: "Our man in the White House." In 2016, he brought his children and...

The clock is ticking for Republicans who insist that rampant voter fraud altered the outcome of the 2020 presidential election. Party leaders are asking for time to come up with evidence supporting their claims, which so far have been unsubstantiated, because three states that clinched victory for President-elect Joe Biden — Georgia, Michigan and Pennsylvania — will certify their election results within the next ten days. Republicans have moved to halt the certification of results in all three states, and hope that recounts or audits of votes in some states could delay those final certifications.

Guy Benson @guypbenson Congratulations to Joe Biden & his supporters. I did not vote for the president-elect, but I wish him & our country well. When he deserves support, he’ll get it from me. But he will also need to be opposed and held accountable, perhaps often. Onward. God bless America. Flag of United States 8:54 AM · Nov 7, 2020·Twitter for iPhone

The U.S. presidential election was not tainted by widespread voter fraud or irregularities in how ballots were counted, despite a huge effort by President Donald Trump to prove otherwise. In refusing to concede the election, Trump claims that he would have won were it not for “illegal” votes counted in several states that he lost or where he is currently trailing. But Trump and his allies haven’t offered any proof and their legal challenges have largely been rejected by the courts. WHAT IS TRUMP CHALLENGING? The Trump campaign has filed more than a dozen lawsuits in at least five states....
