Republicans in Florida’s most populous county, Miami-Dade, are turning out to vote at a somewhat higher percentage than Democrats — causing uneasiness among some Democratic operatives. Nearly 63% of the 428,000 registered Republicans in the county have voted so far, whereas about 56% of the county’s 634,000 registered Democrats have voted to date, according to state data. About 225,000 people with no party affiliation have also already voted in the county.

Entering the final stretch of the race has a lot of nail-biting, hand-wringing, and cold-sweat-panicking going on from both sides of the aisle. Let’s stop guessing and start looking at the data coming out of the battleground states where early voting has already taken place. As we review it, keep in mind that this is early and mail voting and will likely favor Democrats as a whole, as it is expected that day-of-election voting should favor Trump and Republicans by an almost 2 to 1 margin. Minnesota: At 46% to 31% in favor of Dems, Minnesota has racked up a...
  • Florida Early Vote (10/31 5:30PM Update): Democrat lead drops 25K to 90K. Republicans are finally ahead of 2016 Early Voting margin.

    10/31/2020 2:53:37 PM PDT · by springwater13 · 69 replies
The Democrat lead dropped another 25K to settle around 90K. For reference, Democrats lead Republicans by 96K in the 2016 early vote, so Republicans are currently ahead of their 2016 pace by 6K votes. Since all polls show Republicans predominantly preferring Election Day voting, Trump should be in a good position in Florida. Tomorrow, many counties are closed and looking at the vote split I would not expect many changes from these numbers so things will probably settle right around the 2016 margin. Looking at County level data, Republican turnout is about 4% light in the early voting in Orlando/Jacksonville...

In Wisconsin, you can register and vote the same day, so this is still a close race. The following data is derived from actual ballots cast. SEE DATA....

Republicans cut a net 15K votes yesterday from the Democrats' early vote lead, which has now fallen to 255K. Dems---1,633,774 (+77K) (37.60% of all early votes) Reps--1,378,537 (+92K) (31.72%) Unas--1,310,505 (+89K) (30.16%) Current Democrat lead is 255K (Dems held a 310K vote lead at the end of EV in 2016 and lost NC by 3.8 points). However, a higher % of EV has been cast this year because of China Virus fear, which means it would be nice for this 255K Democrat lead to drop more. Black share of the EV electorate fell for the 6th straight day from 19.55%...

Democrats are turning out at lower rates than Republicans in Florida’s largest county, Miami-Dade, after Democratic nominee Joe Biden's campaign pared down field operations because of the coronavirus pandemic. Campaign operatives told Politico that door-to-door efforts to persuade voters to jump on the Biden bandwagon were at a standstill and without funding -- despite record-breaking fundraising hauls by the campaign -- for months leading up to the final stretch before Election Day. “We did not get the kind of funding for different vendors who would do that type of work until late in the campaign,” Rep. Frederica Wilson, who represents...

  • Florida Early Vote Update (10/30 4:30PM): Democrat lead down to 120k. Republicans are rapidly closing the gap.

    10/30/2020 1:38:24 PM PDT · by springwater13 · 10 replies
Very strong day in early voting. Democrats had about a 96k vote margin lead in 2016 so we should be surpass 2016 performance by tomorrow and start with the advantage. The final early vote Democrat lead will likely be between 0 to 50k votes. Gains are expected to slow down on Sunday because many republican counties are closed for early voting but this has been a strange year so who knows. Republicans are winning in person early voting in core democrat counties because democrats are scared of going to the polls. They aren't willing to die for a Biden vote.

Some great news for a Friday afternoon. The Democrats' enormous lead on vote by mail (VBM) has been whittled down to nearly nothing by Republicans crushing the in person early vote (IPEV) As of this morning, the D overall lead in all early votes (IPEV plus VBM) was 164,000, down from 204,000 the day before and 254,000 the day before that. As of now it is 120,602. Trump won Florida in 2016 despite D's having a 96,000 lead in all early votes by the morning of the election. There are still a few more hours today and a couple more...

Republicans continued cutting into the Democrats' early voting lead yesterday, despite a rain storm covering most of NC. Republicans chopped off just under 16K votes from the Democrat lead: Dems---1,556,483 (38.11%) (+62.5K votes yesterday) Reps---1,286,508 (31.50%) (+78K) Unas---1,220,771 (29.89%) (+74K) Black share of the early voting electorate dropped for the fifth straight day from 19.78% to 19.55%. Democrats overall lead dropped from 285K to 270K. As previously noted in earlier posts, Dems led 2016 early voting by 310K, and the black share of the vote was 21% that year. Please keep in mind that it rained all day yesterday in...

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Texans have already cast more ballots in the presidential election than they did during all of 2016, an unprecedented surge of early voting in a state that was once the country’s most reliably Republican, but may now be drifting toward battleground status. More than 9 million ballots have been cast as of Friday morning in the nation’s second most-populous state, exceeding the 8,969,226 cast in 2016, according to an Associated Press tally of early votes from data provided by Texas officials. Texas is the first state to hit the milestone. This year’s numbers were aided by...

  • PANIC in FL: Democrats are sounding the alarm about weak voter turnout rates in Florida’s biggest county, Miami-Dade

    10/29/2020 9:17:34 PM PDT · by Helicondelta · 44 replies
Democrats are sounding the alarm about weak voter turnout rates in Florida’s biggest county, Miami-Dade, where a strong Republican showing is endangering Joe Biden’s chances in the nation’s biggest swing state. No Democrat can win Florida without a huge turnout and big winning margins here to offset losses elsewhere in the state. But Democrats are turning out at lower rates than Republicans and at lower rates than at this point in 2016, when Hillary Clinton won by 29 percentage points here and still lost the state to Donald Trump.
