The Vermont Democratic Party had two events planned for this weekend with the anti-Trump lawyer, one each in Burlington and White River Junction. But after the news of the felony domestic-violence case against him broke, party officials started getting cold feet. “The Vermont Democratic Party has canceled Mr. Avenatti’s forthcoming scheduled appearances in Vermont, and will be refunding all ticket sales,” state-party spokesman R. Christopher Di Mezzo said in a statement posted on social media. The party scrubbed promotions for the events, set for Friday and Saturday, on its website.

Minnesota Democratic Rep. Keith Ellison has been elected as the state Attorney General, fending off his Republican opponent in an election mired with domestic abuse allegations. Ellison, the deputy chair of the Democratic National Committee, defeated Republican Doug Wardlow and his ambitious run to become the first Republican state attorney general in nearly half a century. Ellison was once seen as the comfortable favorite in the race, but his campaign was thrown into turmoil when his former girlfriend accused him in August of physical and emotional abuse when they dated.

Trump has shown strong leadership as commander in chief on this issue. But there is one issue that even the military cannot solve: our own legal masochism. The caravan is now suing us in our own federal courts. If the Trump administration even legitimizes this lawsuit by sending DOJ attorneys to defend the case rather than simply treating this potential judge as a lawbreaker of all judicial precedent, no army in the world can stop the invasion by lawfare.

The chairman of Minnesota's Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party (DFL) says that the results of an investigation into claims of domestic abuse against attorney general nominee Keith Ellison make it impossible for him to believe Ellison's accuser. DFL chairman Ken Martin told a reporter on Thursday that he "believes our investigation" according to Fox News. "I don't believe her," Martin added, referring to Karen Monahan, the Ellison ex-girlfriend who accused the Minnesota congressman of abuse. An attorney hired by state Democrats looking into Monaham's claims of domestic abuse and concluded they were "unsubstantiated." "I support Karen bringing her allegations forward, and I support...

The renewal of a law enacted decades ago to protect women against domestic violence crimes is loaded with leftist statutory devices, restricts gun rights and dramatically expands the definition of domestic violence to include verbal, emotional, technological, and economic abuse. Judicial Watch dissected the proposed bill, Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act of 2018 (VAWA), which was introduced in the House over the summer by Texas Democrat Sheila Jackson Lee, and found a multitude of alarming changes that should not be approved if the law is reauthorized. Originally passed in 1994, VAWA has been renewed and broadened over the years to...

VANCOUVER — Who is more likely to be victimized by teen dating violence? If you’re quick to think it’s girls, new data shows you’re wrong. In a surprising twist, recently published research indicates boys are more likely to report being victims of dating violence committed by partners who hit, slap or push them. Researchers with the University of British Columbia (UBC) and Simon Fraser University (SFU) conducted a longitudinal study of dating violence. While reports of physical abuse went down over time, they say there is a troubling gender-related trend. Five percent of teens reported physical abuse from their dating...

Where is Democrats' concern and support for Ellison's ex-girlfriend? The former girlfriend of Congressman Keith Ellison is accusing her fellow Democrats of isolating her and attempting to silence her for speaking out about the domestic violence she claims to have suffered at the hands of her ex-boyfriend. Democrats say they believe women when they come forward with claims of abuse inflicted on them by powerful men. But this claimed belief in women isn’t unconditional. When a woman accuses a powerful Democrat, all bets are off. The episode is another reminder that Democrats are champions of women’s rights – but only...

Donald Trump Jr. mocked Democratic Sen. Tom Carper (D-Del.) on Friday over a decades-old admission of domestic violence after the senator criticized a member of the White House staff. In a tweet, the president's son brought up Carper's 1998 admission that he once slapped his wife, giving her a black eye. The incident was reported in a 1982 New York Post article that claimed his wife's two children from a previous relationship "were slapped around and bruised by Carper for doing such things as leaving the family dog on the bed." Carper said late last year that he never lied...

Russian women suffering domestic violence are being deterred from going to the police since its partial decriminalisation last year, campaigners have claimed after a dramatic fall in reported incidents. The state statistics, released in July, reveal that the number of cases of domestic violence reported to the police in 2017 almost halved since physical abuse became punishable by a fine rather than time in prison. Controversial amendments to Russian law decriminalised some forms of domestic violence in February 2017. The changes mean violence against a spouse or children that results in bruising or bleeding but not broken bones is punishable...

**SNIP** “One night I confronted him very calm about a lie he had just told me straight to my face. What happened next was a rage that I had never witnessed to that magnitude. He was becoming a person I had never seen before. The next morning, he came into the room I was sleeping in. I was laying across the bed with my headphones on, listening to podcast on my phone. He said he was about to leave town for the weekend and told me to take the trash out. Given the explosive outrage that occurred the night before,...
