Selling a used, black-and-white printer through Craigslist seemed simple and straightforward to Doug Costello. It wasn't. What the 66-year-old Massachusetts man didn't know then is that he would spend the next 6 ½ years embroiled in a complicated and confusing legal dispute in Indiana over that printer, which, according to its buyer, was broken.

she calls herself the “World’s Meanest Mom,” but a Minnesota mother said she has a reason for selling her daughter’s dream truck on Craigslist. Amy Adams said her daughter “decided that her grades don’t matter, that she can disrespect myself and her siblings on a daily basis and that she has the right to skip school and run away from home.” Adams added her daughter, who was just about to get her driver’s license, “was on her ‘one more chance and the truck was getting sold.’ And, she blew that ‘one more chance’ on Monday when she decided to skip...

We are willing to pay $15 an hour for a maximum amount of four hours for this service,” the ad, since taken down, requested. California Gov. Jerry Brown and state lawmakers reached...

I put some furniture up for sale on Craigslist. Now I have someone texting me from Vermont (I live in Georgia) wanting to buy sight unseen, claiming to be a flight attendant who is away most of the time but will send a pickup agent as soon as we complete the transaction via PayPal. It seems pretty obvious that it's a scam but it must work some percentage of the time because they keep trying it.

AIKEN, S.C. (AP) - Authorities say a man trying to rob a couple who thought they were going to buy a car off Craigslist has been shot and killed. Aiken County deputies said in a news release that officers are looking for the second robber after he ran away following the shooting Wednesday afternoon. Deputies say while the gun was pointed at the man, his girlfriend...

People perusing Craiglist are typically looking for love or searching for bargains. This ad one of our readers stumbled upon certainly appears to offer the latter. It features a 1979 Volkswagen Bus — the kind of vehicle that generations of free spirits have transformed into hippie vans — selling for the incredibly low price of $35. Really. That's what it says. And even if you get bad vibes by the vehicle being located in Crook (it's a town in Logan County), perhaps the owner's flexibility will reassure you. After all, he isn't insisting on cash: He's willing to trade. But...

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Some South Carolina law enforcement agencies are offering their parking lots as a safe place to finalize deals made on Craigslist and other online marketplaces. Officers say they won't get involved in the deals. But officials hope that, by doing the transactions at a police station or sheriff's department, people will be less likely to cut a shady deal — or get violent. At least two people have been killed in South Carolina when online transactions went wrong.

It could be a week before we know whether a Longmont woman who allegedly stabbed a pregnant woman and removed her unborn child will face a charge of first degree murder. The Boulder District Attorney says a murder charge is not a given because of Colorado laws and the facts surrounding the case. During a news conference Thursday District Attorney Stan Garnett said any murder charge involving an unborn child is very difficult. “Under Colorado law, essentially, there’s no way murder charges can be brought if it’s not established that the fetus lived as a child outside the body of...

A legally armed man stopped a string of robberies related to online ads in Georgia, by shooting and killing the robber. It appears that at least four other robberies were committed before the robber was shot. The old adage, if it looks to good to be true, it probably is, applies. In a twist, the robber offered high prices for the goods, then robbed the victims of the goods at gunpoint. It is more common for robbers who set people up online to pretend to be sellers, who then steal the cash. Cash is much more desirable than property,...

"This sword is from the 1700s. I got it at an antique store in my memaw's home town back in 1984. The person who sold it to me told me to be careful because there is a 90+% chance that it is cursed. Since it's been in my house my life has descended into pure chaos. My knitting group came over and they all said they could feel a strange energy in my sword room (I have a collection of over 100 swords. This is my only haunted sword). Since i got this sword, about 3 times a week a...
