With multiple camera shots and slick editing, Trevor Jacob documented the dramatic moments when his small plane crashed into a Santa Barbara County hillside as he parachuted to safety. The 2021 video titled, “I Crashed My Airplane,” quickly amassed hundreds of thousands of views on YouTube. The only problem: it was all staged. On Wednesday, Jacob, 29, pleaded guilty to a felony charge of obstructing a federal investigation after admitting to intentionally crashing the plane to get views on his YouTube channel, the United States Department of Justice announced. He faces up to 20 years in federal prison.

There are many surplus and refurb chargers / adapters for powering laptop computers on the market these days. Ebay, for example, has loads of them at good prices. And adapters from good brand names like Dell and HP seem to be quite reliable. By their ratings, these would appear to be useful for other projects. However, I was curious as to how consistent the low or no load voltage output was vs. the voltage at rated output. In the case of my Dell DA130PE1-00, a 130 watt adapter, there is just the "simple" rating if 19.5 DC volts @ 6.7...

Twitter CEO Elon Musk warned users of the Facebook-owned WhatsApp that it is secretly accessing their device microphones without their knowledge and violating their privacy. Twitter’s director of engineering, Foad Dabri, posted a photo documenting his WhatsApp timeline which showed Zuckerberg’s messaging app was accessing his phone’s mic while he was asleep. Elon Musk responded to the tweet, simply stating, “WhatsApp cannot be trusted.” The WhatsApp Company later responded to the Twitter post claiming it had reached out to the Twitter engineer about the issue. As expected, the company would not accept any blame and attempted to write the issue...

Man asks ChatGPT for numbers, strikes Toto ChatGPT or Cai Shen Ye (God of Fortune)? One man in Singapore recently took the use of the artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot to a whole new level, after he randomly asked ChatGPT to generate some lottery numbers for him. To his (and everyone's) surprise, it was a lucky strike — though not quite the jackpot. In a TikTok video posted on Friday (May 5), Aaron Tan shared how he "decided to ask ChatGPT for a set of nice seven numbers" for the Toto draw on May 4. The question he posed to the...

With the advent of smart phones, people do a lot while they're using the toilet these days. So much so, that employers have been looking for smart solutions to get people off the toilets and back to work, up to installing whole new slanted toilets. Check out these slanted toilets designed to keep you off your phone while you poop at work Since Taro Gomi first published his children's book in 1977, we all know that Everyone Poops. So don't get all uptight that I'm writing an article about pooping. Okay? But some toilet manufacturers are pushing back. What if...

(LifeSiteNews) — The era of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is upon us, and the AI chatbot ChatGPT, released in November 2022, is one of the most-discussed technological developments in decades. AI is advancing so rapidly that many tech experts are calling on the industry to put a moratorium on further development in order to assess where this is heading, including Elon Musk and the “Godfather of AI” Geoffrey Hinton, who recently left Google in order to warn the public about the dangers of AI. If you’re interested in understanding the dangers of AI, MIT AI researcher Lex Friedman makes the case...

Ok...I'm a retired IT guy and really puzzled why I can't figure this out. I have a Samsung Galaxy 22 Android phone. Up till a week ago FR was perfectly readable. One day it suddenly made the type very small like a desktop only website. I also have a small Samsung tablet. FR still looks fine on it. I have looked at FR settings and Chrome browser settings and can't find anything that will fix it. I did just try Firefox on my phone and it looks fine, so obviously this appears to be a Chrome setting problem, but I...

AI-optimized mRNA is more effective and more stable, and it could change the future of vaccines and cancer treatments made of mRNA. Credit: Dr_Microbe / Adobe Stock A new AI tool has been shown to dramatically improve the efficacy and stability of messenger RNA (mRNA) vaccines — simply by suggesting a different shape for the mRNA sequence in them. mRNA vaccines 101: mRNA vaccines deliver genetic code (in the form of an mRNA sequence) that tells your cells to make a part of a pathogen, such as the coronavirus’ spike protein. That bit is enough to trigger the immune system...

Footage showing crates of Bud Light getting blown up with an artillery gun has been posted on social media and received more than 350,000 views. The clip was from a video shared online by self-described "gun lover" Stefan Gol and shows cases of Bud Light being destroyed by military weapons to the sound of Ted Nugent's 'Come And Take It.' Bud Light was targeted by a conservative boycott after working with transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney and sending over a personalized can to celebrate her "day 365 of womanhood." A 37-second segment from Gol's video was posted on Twitter by Ron...

A new version of how the face of the legendary Greek king and army leader Alexander the Great might have been in real life is presented by Royalty Now Studios on YouTube. A team of researchers at the University of Texas has developed a noninvasive means by which human thoughts can be converted into text. Though currently somewhat clunky, the "semantic decoder" could one day be miniaturized and mobilized such that one's most private thoughts could be made apparent anywhere and endlessly. The scientists' paper, recently published in the journal Nature Neuroscience (look for the centerfold!), indicated that a "brain-computer interface that decodes continuous language from non-invasive recordings would have many scientific and practical applications."I'm sure that is the case. You can bet that tyrannical governments from China to Canada, and from Iran...

Americans concerned with the left-wing bias of ChatGPT and other artificial intelligence tools now have an alternative. A right-wing chatbot has arrived. The makers of TUSK Browser, a censorship-free web browser with an emphasis on free speech, have now rolled out a modified AI chatbot they say promotes conservative values and "aligns with patriots and independent thinkers' point of view." Dubbed GIPPR in homage to Republican icon and late President Ronald Reagan, who was nicknamed "the Gipper," the new bot runs on OpenAI's ChatGPT technology but has been trained to act like a conservative. "We believe that Conservatives are subject...

Ted Nugent's upcoming concert in Birmingham, Alabama, has been canceled by the venue. Nugent was scheduled to perform on July 18 at Avondale Brewing Co., which, along with promoter Red Mountain Entertainment, announced the show earlier this week. A wave of backlash from community members expressing opposition to Nugent's concert followed, with individuals criticizing the musician for his far-right beliefs and labeling him as homophobic, transphobic and misogynistic. The venue now said the show won't take place.

A software developer who worked with Kim Kardashian on her lucrative 'Kimoji' app claims he's been left financially ruined and is living out of his car. David Liebensohn, 43, and two colleagues invented the Kardashian-themed emoji range, which resulted in thousands of downloads a second and the app supposedly generating $1million a minute. But they didn't see a cent after their deal fell apart after what he claims were misunderstandings and Kim and her no-nonsense lawyer Marty Singer gave them little option but to walk away from developing Kimoji, losing out on a fortune. Liebensohn sued Kim for $300million in...
