The Georgia Senate approved a bill Tuesday requiring more identification for absentee voting, the first elections measure to clear either legislative chamber as lawmakers consider new voting rules after last year’s heated presidential race. Voters would have to provide a driver’s license number, state ID number or a copy of photo ID when requesting absentee ballots, according to Senate Bill 67. Currently, absentee ballots are verified based on voters’ signatures and registration information rather than an ID. The Senate passed the bill mostly along party lines, 35-18. State Sen. Larry Walker, one of the Republicans sponsoring the bill, said the...

A federal judge in Texas has indefinitely blocked President Biden’s efforts to impose a 100-day ban on deportations for illegal immigrants. Biden proposed a freeze on deportations for all illegal aliens during his first 100 days in office during his campaign. ... U.S. District Judge Drew Tipton indefinitely banned any enforcement of that 100-day moratorium on deportations. Tipton’s ruling is viewed as a victory for Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, who filed a lawsuit against the federal government over the 100-day pause on deportations. But it doesn’t exclusively apply to Texas.

An estimated 150 Antifa-BLM rioters marched through Portland’s Pearl District Saturday night in a direct action protest in opposition to Immigrations and Customs Enforcement, or ICE. They started with a gathering at The Fields Park. Once the marching began, some in the group spray-painted the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services field office. Windows were smashed out at a handful of businesses, including Starbucks, Safeway, Chipotle, and Umpqua Bank. LinkLinkPortland Police began trying to clear the crowd and started making arrests just before 10 pm. We saved a copy of the “World Economic Forum” video that they deleted after facing backlash. Klaus Schwab's World Economic Forum (WEF) tweeted yesterday that "Lockdowns are quietly improving cities around the world," accompanied by a video showing deserted streets, empty factories, and grounded planes. After backlash, they deleted it. The tone-deaf tweet – coming amid millions of Covid-19 deaths and countless lives and businesses being destroyed by lockdowns – was quickly ratioed by Twitter users. The WEF’s comments and linked article about the historic quietness brought on by lockdowns leading to better detection of small earthquakes were lost on...

Joe Biden spent the past two days conducting blunder-filled TV interviews and speeches. It was expected that Joe Biden was going to be a gaffe machine. That is, after all, the long-running joke about the avuncular former vice president—one that Democrats, and the Onion, generally found endearing right up until the moment Biden launched his third presidential run. Still, the velocity of self-inflicted wounds has been remarkable, prompting whispers about Biden’s age (76) and mental agility. It’s not just his penchant for expressing antiquated views on political civility but also his spouting off confusing strings of numbers during his last...

Joe and Jill Biden visited Houston yesterday as Texas recovers from last week's severe winter storms. The storm gripped Texas for nearly a week and left an estimated 4 million utility customers without electricity for hours, and sometimes days, at a time. And as a byproduct of the power loss, about half the state's residents, upward of 15 million, either were without water or had to boil water before drinking it. Biden was a little late with his tour of the frozen state as Texas weather is much better and Texans are heading for a recovery. But what was the...

Dozens of House Democrats are calling on President Biden to relinquish sole control over the country’s nuclear arsenal and the ability to launch a strike using those weapons. Politico reports that the Democrats, led by Rep. Jimmy Panetta (CA) and Rep. Ted Lieu (CA), wrote a letter warning that “vesting one person” with the authority to initiate a nuclear war “entails real risks.” “While any president would presumably consult with advisors before ordering a nuclear attack, there is no requirement to do so,” the letter explains. ... Politico notes that the Democrats are attempting to curb the president’s power in...

According to a new study released by FAIR, the annual cost to U.S. taxpayers is $1.8 billion and over five years, that financial burden skyrockets to $8.8 billion. Those figures are only estimates because refugees will access welfare and other government assistance at different rates and the number of refugees entering the U.S also changes from year-to-year. Hey, about that $15/hr minimum wage… – It’s a funny thing about passing laws through congress: You have to have enough votes to get over all the procedural hurdles. As former senators, both Joe Biden and Kamala Harris presumably knew this throughout the campaign when they cynically promised to “immediately” raise the federal minimum wage to $15 per hour. This means they knew that any such proposal would either have to have at least 60 votes behind it in the senate, or have the senate parliamentarian rule that it would qualify under the arcane senate “reconciliation” rule that is to...

ABC, CBS, CNN, and MSNBC on Wednesday avoided discussing the explosive new sexual harassment claims against New York Gov Andrew Cuomo during their evening news broadcasts. Earlier on Wednesday, Lindsey Boylan, shared on Medium that during her more than three years in the Democrat's administration, Cuomo 'would go out of his way to touch me on my lower back, arms and legs,' compared her to one of his rumored ex-girlfriends and once remarked they should play strip poker. And according to Fox News, which cited Grabien transcripts, ABC's World News Tonight, CBS' Evening News, and NBC's Nightly News made no...

Children and young people are far less likely than adults to get severe cases of COVID-19 infection, and death from the pandemic disease among children is exceptionally rare, according to UK research published last summer. A study of COVID-19 patients admitted to 138 hospitals in Britain found that less than 1% were children, and of those fewer than 1% – or six in total – died, all of whom were already suffering serious illness or underlying health disorders. “We can be quite sure that COVID in itself is not causing harm to children on a significant scale,” said Malcolm Semple,...

They say journalism is the first rough draft of history. With the Covid pandemic now a year old, we are starting to see books on the topic. And various libertarian studies and articles, critically examining government and private-sector responses to the crisis, have appeared. But some of those rough drafts in the major media add up to a pretty strong critique of government failure by themselves. Just consider the disappointing, even tragic, analyses that have been appearing over the past year: The federal government had reports and warnings and war games about pandemic danger at least as far back as...

We’ve been playing the blame game about coronavirus for months now here in the United States. It’s President Donald Trump’s fault that the pandemic got out of hand. Or Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s. Or Mayor Bill de Blasio’s. We’ve leveled blame at people who refuse to wear masks. Or those who continue to gather in large groups. It’s gotten political. It’s turned Americans against each other. Everybody’s got some blood on their hands. But we have to remember where this pandemic started: China. And we have to remember that that country’s Communist rulers lied about the virus from day one. That’s...
