SEOUL, South Korea -- South Korea's Foreign Ministry said the country was "in shock beyond description" Tuesday after learning that the suspect in the shootings at Virginia Tech university was a South Korean native. The alleged shooter - identified as Cho Seung-hui, 23 - had been in the United States since 1992, Cho Byung-se, a ministry official handling North American affairs, told reporters late Tuesday.
