Both libertarians and conservatives want to keep America safe. We differ on how best to do that. Most libertarians believe our attempts to create or support democracy around the world have made us new enemies, and done harm as well as good. We want less military spending. Some conservatives respond to that by calling us isolationists, but we're not. I want to participate in the world; I just don't want to run it. I'm glad Americans trade with other countries -- trade both goods and people. It's great we sell foreigners our music, movies, ideas, etc. And through dealing...

MOSCOW — President Vladimir Putin said Friday that gay people have nothing to fear in Russia as long as they leave children alone. Putin met with a group of volunteers in the Olympic mountain venue at Krasnaya Polyana near Sochi on Friday to wish them success at the Games. During a question-and-answer session, a volunteer asked him about Russia’s attitudes toward gays, a subject that has provoked worldwide controversy, and Putin offered what was apparently meant to be a reassuring answer for visitors to the Olympics. “One can feel calm and at ease,” he said. “Just leave kids alone, please.”...

The Boy Scouts of America will accept openly gay youths starting on New Year’s Day, a historic change that has prompted the BSA to ponder a host of potential complications—ranging from policies on tentmates and showers to whether Scouts can march in gay pride parades. Yet despite their be-prepared approach, BSA leaders are rooting for the change to be a non-event, comparable to another New Year’s Day in 2000 when widespread fears of digital-clock chaos to start the new millennium proved unfounded. “My hope is there will be the same effect this Jan. 1 as the Y2K scare,” said Brad...

Pop quiz, no cheating allowed: if you had to guess, would you say that HIV and AIDS rates among gay men in the United States are A) declining, B) remaining stable, or C) rising? The correct answer is C) rising, at an alarming 8% per year . HIV incidence -- that is, the proportion of a population infected -- among gay men in the United States rises by that amount every year since at least 2001. Overall, this incidence, at 15.4% cumulatively, is just slightly lower than the incidence among gay men in Sub-Saharan Africa.

If you support Chick-fil-A in the face of left-wing nutcase attacks over the restaurant chain’s support of traditional marriage, ACLU of Massachusetts Executive Director Carol Rose has some advice:“Did you see that politicians Rick Santorum and Mike Huckabee are now trying to rally all homophobes to eat at Chick-fil-A? I’m thrilled. In fact, I encourage all bigots to load up on transfats and carbohydrates. Go ahead — eat your heart out on the “Bacon, Egg, and Cheese Biscuit” breakfast! Mmmm.”Presumably, her idea is to trigger heart attacks. In her July 27 ACLU blog post entitled “Menino v. Chick-fil-A,” Ms. Rose revealed...

A federal judge has ordered a Missouri school district to unblock its web filters and give students access to sexually explicit material by the middle of March. A US District Judge issued a preliminary junction against the Camdenton R – III School District banning them from using filtering software. The American Civil Liberties Union filed a lawsuit against the district claiming it was deliberately restricting access to homosexual themed sites, while allowing students to view what it claims are “anti-LG BT sites that condemn homosexuality.” In issuing its ruling, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri said...

(edit) But Bert has now ignited fresh debate about his sexuality after using a slang word for gay to describe himself. In a message posted on Twitter about the premiere of the recent A-Team film remake, the mono-browed Muppet said on his official page: "Ever notice how similar my hair is to Mr. T's? "The only difference is mine is a little more 'mo,' a little less 'hawk.'" The remark meant nothing to most readers, but sparked intrigue in certain gay circles, where "mo" is shorthand for "homosexual". Writing on the gay blog AfterElton.com, Ed Kennedy noted that the tweet...

In light of voluminous evidence that pioneering sexologist Alfred Kinsey and his associates were guilty not only of scientific fraud but serious criminality – culminating this week with WND's exposé of one victim of Kinsey's notorious "child sexuality" studies conducted by pedophile "researchers" – Indiana legislators are calling for the defunding of the Kinsey Institute, located on the campus of state-subsidized Indiana University. State representatives Cindy Noe and Woody Burton emphasized that any effort to cut off the Kinsey Institute hinges on electing Republican majorities in the state legislature. "I don't think the Kinsey Institute is a proper use of...

The world’s largest pro-pedophilia advocacy group uses Facebook to connect with its members throughout the world; to find and exchange photos of children; to hone its members' predatory behavior; and to identify, target and reel in child victims, an investigation by FoxNews.com reveals. Facebook says it has a strict policy against the posting of content that supports groups engaged in child exploitation, yet a simple, five-second search on Facebook, conducted on Sept. 23, yielded dozens of pages devoted to the infamous North American Man/Boy Love Association (NAMBLA). Many of those pages featured numerous photos of unnamed boys, some of whom...

Newser) – Using criteria like the number of same-sex-couple households per capita, gay elected officials, gay bars and gay films among Netflix favorites, the Advocate crowns Atlanta as the gayest city in the US. Some reasons why, and the rest of the top five: 1. * Though “Georgia isn’t the most gay-friendly state,” Mike Albo writes, “Atlanta guys are hunky, the ladies are gracious, the gay sports leagues are seriously well organized, and its housewives (and their gay BFFs, complete with handbags and heels) are now camp icons.” 2. * Burlington, Vt.: Hub of the state’s gay-rights efforts, and “nearby...

Clearly, Kevin Jennings' GLSEN did/does not follow policies that safeguard children. There seems to be a pattern here. At GLSEN conferences in Atlanta (1999), Chicago (2000), and Boston (2005), teenage attendees were able to pick up directories to gay "leather" bars (where homosexuals meet for anonymous sex and sadomasochistic "play"). In 2005, GLSEN recommended the infamous "Ramrod" bar in Boston in the Little Black Book: Queer in the 21st Century, handed out to teens at their Boston conference. (The booklet described the Ramrod: "oldschool speakeasy. Leather, denim. Woof."),and Leather Bar: a bar frequented by gays, often sadomasochists, dressed typically in...

You would expect the radical leftists on the MSNBC shows or in the Obama administration to use the sexual slur “teabagger” used against Tea Partiers. By this they show their true colors: admitting that protesting against policies of the POTUS and the federal government is only patriotic and commendable when the government is Republican and the protesters are not. But now using the slur against the thousands of patriotic Americans who have actually consulted a U.S. Constitution some point over the past few months has become fair game to the compliant mainstream media. Doug Ross [via Gateway Pundit] reports on...

Just for kicks and giggles--- this homegrown Texas conservative likes to get her kicks (occasionally) by visiting the other side of the fence (and no, I don't mean Mexico) ... The metaphorical fence that separates liberals from conservatives... Whenever I lack inspiration for a blog post, or just generally want to get fired up about my country or my party I visit some of my favorite liberal blogs to stir up some good ol' fashioned trouble... Here's what I noticed...it is nearly impossible to have an open dialogue with liberals. You can't have an opinion contrary to theirs even if...

Rep. Pete Stark, D-Fremont, has become the Democrats' Ann Coulter - he keeps saying things that aggrandize him while discrediting his political persuasion. Last week, after President Bush vetoed a bill to expand the State Children's Health Insurance Program to cover not only poor but also middle-class children, Stark accused Republicans of wanting "to blow up innocent people if we can get enough kids to grow old enough for you to send them to Iraq to get their heads blown off for the president's amusement." Speaker Nancy Pelosi rebuked Stark for his "inappropriate" comments. Stark then issued a new statement:...

PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania, June 1, 2007 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Philadelphia City Council voted yesterday to end a nearly 80-year-old lease held by the Boy Scouts local branch over the group's adherence to a national policy banning actively homosexual leaders. The ongoing dispute pitted the Scouts' Cradle of Liberty Council against homosexual activists over the organization's refusal to adopt an official policy welcoming homosexuals into leadership. The City, under pressure by activist groups, wants the Scouts to either alter the organization's policy or start paying market rent for the use of the historical Beaux Arts building, where the Scout headquarters has been...

The New Senate "leadership": Chuck Schumer, Harry Reid, Pat Murray, and Dick Durbin. I looked at their Senate bio web sites. None of these "leaders" ever served in Vietnam, and I have yet to find in their bio any mention of ANY of them serving in any of our armed forces. And these people want to make decisions for our TROOPS?? I think they're chickenhawks. Here are their bio sites:Chuck Schumer (without a doubt the most egotistical of the four--his web site bio area is a freakin' shrine to himself): Schumer's Narcissistic Web SiteHarry Reid: Harry Reid's tiny print bioPat...

For those who do not know the "older definition" of the term 'Chicken Hawk,' it was at one time the term for homosexuals who had a penchant for young, (underage) boys. I received a flyer in the mail today from an organization called Vote Kids (votekids.org) that attacks Rick Santorum as being anti children. On a cursory investigation of this organization, I found more questions than answers. The flyer is typical of many this season (frankly from both sides) full of misstatements and distortions. It accuses Santorum and Bush of being "Weapons of Mass Destruction" and harming children. I went...

Two Christian parents say their son was a victim of homosexual indoctrination at the prestigious "Governor's School of North Carolina."The Governor's School of North Carolina describes itself as "program for intellectually gifted high school students, integrating academic disciplines, the arts, and unique courses." But one North Carolina couple is suffering some after effects of their son's involvement in the program. Jim and Beverly Burrows say after their son attended a Governor's School seminar called "The New Gay Teenager," he began telling them he was unsure of his "sexual orientation."The parents believe the seminar was intentionally scheduled as the last optional...

I've noticed several leftists pulling the "chickenhawk" argument with impunity. Probably the most public example of this is Michael Moore in Farenheit 911 pointing out that only one member of Congress has a kid serving in Iraq, and that the rest of Congress is cowardly for not "sending" their kids to Iraq (which makes no sense, as the military is all-volunteer). Something else that I've noticed is the lackluster and, to be frank, wussy response to this argument. The response that I've seen on FR and other places, including from Rush, is generally something along the lines of "we live...
