In foreign affairs, a "dove" refers to someone who opposes war and a "hawk" refers to someone who supports war.

Interesting that they should use the term "Chickenhawk" which has been a slang term for as long as I can remember, which refers to Nambla types.. homosexual pedophiles.

As to the column, yeah, we have the left screaming about chickenhawks here, too. Apparently, the lefties think that you only have a right to an opinion on fighting terror in Iraq, or anywhere else, if you're in the service, have been in the service or are willing to go into the service. Naturally, this makes as much sense as blaming rain on wet streets.
Though I do not agree with the premise that only those who have fought or are fighting the wars should have an opinion, I think we can apply that standard if the left really wants to. I have little doubt that among veterans, and those who are serving, the percentage who support the war is probably much higher than among those who never served.
It is nice to know the left figures we should discount the opinions of all those Berkley pinheads, as well as nearly every college student in America. Not that I ever gave their opinions much value anyway...
Moaning doves?
It's a good idea that won't work. To leftists, only militatry people can express pro-war sentimenets, but anyone can be anti-war. It's their childish way of stacking the deck in their favor.
(And even those in the military don't really get to have an opinion that "counts," since military people are dim, rural, uneducated baby-killers.)
