Houston area police were involved in the cutest police chase ever this morning when a Smart Convertible led cops around the highways outside the city. Awwwwww! The Smart has a top speed of 90 MPH, so we aren't yet ready to call this a high speed chase. The driver was arrested without any issues after he pulled off the highway and into a driveway. There's no word on what he did wrong, other than drive a Smart Cabriolet in public. While not confirmed, we're hearing it was towed away from the scene by a local child with a big wheel.

NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- The consumer Internet analyst at Morgan Stanley /quotes/zigman/182639/quotes/nls/ms MS +3.26% , the lead underwriter for last week's Facebook Inc. /quotes/zigman/9962609/quotes/nls/fb FB -4.64% IPO, trimmed his outlook for the social-networking firm's revenues just days before the deal went live, Reuters reported Tuesday. The report said that the action, which it said was relayed to some of Morgan's major clients during Facebook's pre-IPO road show, came as a surprise to many potential investors so close to the stock's debut. Reuters explained that the cut came after Facebook released an updated prospectus ahead of the share sale that cautioned...

Sometimes it’s hard to explain why we need strong financial regulation — especially in an era saturated with pro-business, pro-market propaganda. So we should always be grateful when someone makes the case for regulation more compelling and easier to understand. And this week, that means offering a special shout-out to two men: Jamie Dimon and Mitt Romney. I’ll come back shortly to the troubles at JPMorgan Chase, the bank Mr. Dimon runs. First, however, let me talk about Mr. Romney, whose remarks about those troubles were so off-point that they constitute a teachable moment. Here’s what the presumptive Republican presidential...

Recently Beck has "described a bit about what Political System X" does, as well as gives some real world examples of how Political System X would manifest itself, what that would look like. This is why I spend so much time on progressivism, and I really wish more bloggers would take progressivism seriously. Or, at least, be willing to dig into the progressives own history. Because many of you who automatically think 'communist' when the topic is progressivism, well, there's really no soft way to say this: You're wrong. Not all progressives are communists. Yes, you can cite Van Jones(and...

“The Road We’ve Traveled” is an Obama campaign short movie — or alternatively dubbed “docu-ganda” — that, to many, is a stunningly fawning 17-minute account of what the filmmaker posits are the president’s myriad “accomplishments” during his first term. “Remember how far we’ve come,” opens director Davis Guggenheim’s film. Guggenheim, of course, made waves recently when he asserted that the only “negative” about President Obama is that he has too many positives. But where does the title and theme for Obama’s mini propagandist piece hail from? Glenn Beck went digging and thinks he might have found the answers in a...

If one wanted to destroy America, all one would need to do is break the country into parts and chisel away at each segment, bit by bit. Tuesday‘s episode of The Glenn Beck Program laid out America’s core components and described how each one is being undermined and thus, destroyed. But who is doing the destroying? Glenn contends that those seeking to dismantle the American way are “no longer progressives.” Instead, the left has successfully morphed into what it had always intended to be: Full-fledged Communists. “Progressives can say mission accomplished. Now it’s phase two.”Invoking Stuart Chase’s “The Road We...

"That's crazy," the person says. "I can't believe they [Chase officials] did that." Almonte called for the bank to halt the debt sale, but was warned by Lazinbat that "she had better go along with the plan to sell the misrepresented asset," she later wrote in her employment lawsuit. Almonte says she refused Lazinbat's order and escalated her concerns to his boss, Helaire. Chase fired her on Nov. 30, 2009. Carole McGinn was not a party to discussions about the debt sale but confirms the thrust of Almonte's claims. "I know she [Almonte] was looking into things that they didn't...

As I detailed here in February in "Dick Durbin Is Stealing Your Free Checking," thanks to price controls on debit card transactions from the Durbin Amendment of the 2010 Dodd-Frank "financial reform" law, free checking is going the way of the dodo bird. The Durbin price controls on interchange fees -- the so-called "swipe fees" that retailers pay to bank and credit unions that process debit card transactions, go into effect this Saturday, October 1, and are already showing more dire effects than originally predicted. Not only is free checking disappearing at a rapid pace -- a new Bankrate.com survey...
