Conservative, liberal, Democrat, Republican, it really doesn’t matter; pretty much the topic of conversation today is the special election being held in Massachusett(e)s to fill the seat left by the passing of Ted Kennedy. It’s a real barn-burner, it is, what with a stolid, leaden Democrat candidate woefully trailing a vibrant and optimistic Republican front-runner (I know, it’s almost unbelieveable). Television, newspapers, blogs are all covering the race with either despair or indifference (Democrat party hacks and the MSM) or breathless admiration and excitement (pretty much everyone else). Except one blog. This particular race doesn’t seem to have hit the...

A hilarious edit of an old comic book hammers Charles Johnson's decent into madness. http://racedetective.blogspot.com/2009/12/green-lizard.html

It's an odd formulation in some ways as "the right" is not really a single entity. But in so far as it means the dominant mode of discourse among the institutions and blogs and magazines and newspapers and journals that support the GOP, Charles Johnson is absolutely right in my view to get off that wagon for the reasons has has stated. Read his testament. It is full of emotion, but also of honesty. The relationship of a writer to a party or movement is, of course, open to discussion. I understand the point that Jonah Goldberg makes that politics...

The fact that Andrew Sullivan would publicly admit that in Charles Johnson he has found a kindred spirit probably tells you all you need to know about Andrew Sullivan. And like the middle-aged loser he's embraced, middle-aged loser Andrew can't let the opportunity to whore for hits pass him by: Now he's got to do his version of Why I Parted Ways With The Right. Here's Sullivan's "Look at me! Look at me! I have a manifesto, too!" manifesto...

Charles Johnson, editor of the Little Green Footballs site, has written a post declaring his personal breach with the American right. He offers 10 reasons, but they all boil down to the same one: His outrage at the bad characters found in right-wing media and blogosphere. And yes, there's no shortage of bad characters. No shortage on the left-hand side either. Or the middle, for that matter. But why surrender to them? Why let them get away with their claim to define your movement? Why not stand up to them? That was Rudyard Kipling's advice to those who felt as...

Mark the date, On November 30th 2009, Little Green Footballs officially Died. The site has officially changed from being a Conservative to a Liberal Site. There were always rumors that Charles was really a liberal who was faking his political philosophy just to make a buck, but they were so hard to believe, he was a passionate conservative, so believable. But in the end Little Green Footballs died from a long drawn-out illness called supporter-cide. Charles Johnson the man behind LGF decided to ban every single one of his supporters. It was painful to watch.

(Reason #)8. A right-wing blogosphere that is almost universally dominated by raging hate speech (see: Hot Air, Free Republic, Ace of Spades, etc.)

Washed-up has-been blogger Charles Johnson of Little Green Asspirates pulled himself away from his own comments section (where he constantly berates people who disagree with him) and Googling his name just long enough to give us this gem.... The racism at the Washington Times is bubbling to the surface for all to smell, like noxious sewer gas.Today they ran the following advertisement, a lunatic Birther ad featuring images of monkeys. This isn’t even “dog whistle” racism. It’s right in your face, poking you in the eye. (no link for the Lizard King -ed.) Yes, calling a black man a chimp...

Charles Johnson is at it again. Over at the steaming pile that is Little Green Footballs, Charles jumps up and down, waves his arms frantically, and screams, "Look at me!! Look at me!!" to the rest of the political blogosphere. For his troubles he gets a shout out from Think Progress.

I hope you all enjoy Volume I in the ongoing adventures of Chuck Johnson, Race Detective, as he and his Blog Queen Sharmuta battle evil creationists, fascists, racists, and other vile blogosphere menaces*. Will The Pony-tailed Avenger keep unwanted lifeforms from reading his blog? Will he finally defeat the forces arrayed against him? Will he ever get that blowjob from Ice Weasel? Will Sharmuta finally get her power turned back on? Will Irish Rose finally come out of her self-imposed exile and stop peeing herself? Will Chuck's ongoing two front war with Hot Air and Ace of Spades lead to...

Charles Johnson Now So Anti-Racist He's Denouncing Fake Racist Quotes Charles Johnson was against fake but accurate before he was for it. No link for the idiot. I'll just quote him. From a thread: Top 10 Rush Limbaugh Racist Quotes. All out of context, and sarcasm. Right? That link I've left in provides a flurry of extremely dubious Limbaugh "quotes" -- and not a single link or citation. Including the ones created wholesale by noted scholar "zedladdy" and spread by no lesser authority than "cobra." Given that "zedladdy" and "cobra" previously invented own quotes, spread them around, and then uploaded...

Charles Johnson the Despot of Little Green Footballs fell victim to the story yesterday. To prove a point on his TV show the other day Glenn Beck threw a rubber frog into boiling water. The next day the "Monitor" and the left-handed side of the internet whined that Beck Killed a REAL FROG. Beck explains what happened in the video below (if you can't see the video click here) At first glance it seemed as if Charles Johnson flew off the handle just like most days when Johnson forgets to take his medication, he couldn't wait to attack someone he...

Little Green What? Some bloggers sent me postings the other day about Charles Johnson’s Little Green Footballs website, and suggested that the site has changed—as in flipped sides. I have not followed the controversy, but I once rode a bike down in LA for an afternoon with Johnson and found him both a serious and bright guy with all sorts of original ideas about radical Islam and the anti-Enlightenment dangers it posed. Out of curiosity I went to the site today. All I discovered different was a change in emphasis, but not necessarily attitude. He still is strongly anti-jihad; the...

Well, well, well...

It seems Charles Johnson has really pissed off the wrong person. If Roger L. Simon (Da Raj) found his batshit crazy nemesis in me, it seems Charles has found his in journalist Robert Stacy McCain. What is even more delightful, at least to yours truly, is that McCain appears to be willing to take this blog war all the way... Which is just the way I like it.

Not content to see fascists, racists, creationists, and whateverelse-ists behind every bush, the denizens of Charles Johnson’s (formerly enjoyable) Little Green Footballs are now resorting to planting bait at other blogs: Apparently CJ’s moderator Kilgore Trout went over there last night and started posting racist stuff. To see, he said, if it would be cleaned up.It wasn’t. Because both Allah and Ed were asleep. It being the middle of the night. “There†being Hot Air. As the great philosopher once said, “WTF??†Maybe Charles should ban himself.

Just to give full disclosure upfront, I used to consider Charles Johnson one of my "Idols" in the blogging world. He helped invent citizen Journalism. That was until banned from Little Green Footballs for one reason, refusing to give up my friendship with Pamela Geller (Atlas Shrugs) and Robert Spencer (Jihad Watch). For the last two years Johnson has been like the crazy old man who tries to alienate his family, but in his case he has been throwing bloggers out of his site. For some of them like Pamela Geller and Robert Spencer he not only cast them asunder,...

I will not link to his site but the slimeball Charles Johnson of Little Green Footballs IS BLAMING AMERICAN CITIZENS FOR VIOLENCE BEING PERPETRATED AGAINST THEM. This racist bigot has posted hateful things about arabs & muslims for years (not just terrorists but all muslims). Violence is wrong! Now surprise surprise when a black man is beaten & hospitalized in St. Louis by SEIU thugs and a cancer patient and business man are assaulted in Tampa by SEIU thugs it's their own fault. This man has a DEFECT and it's sick that any conservative EVER listened to him just because...

The Democratic National Committee has released a new video to push back against protests happening at town hall meetings across the country, and according to ABC's Jake Tapper, these demonstrators are being depicted as "irrational birthers who want to 'destroy' President Obama."

I think Jamie Kirchik has the politics pretty much exactly right. Eugene Robinson, Joe Conason and E.J. Dionne, in addition to all the politicians and bloggers Jamie mentions, have been pumping the birther story in order to tar Republicans as extremists at precisely the moment their own agenda is being rejected by the American people for it's own extremism. Even the folks at Mother Jones think this is a plausible explanation of the administration's behavior: If the White House thinks the birther movement is hurting the Republican party, they might refrain from doing anything that could cause the GOP to...

This thread at the Right Side of Life, keying off of a FreeRepublic.com thread, is actually a pretty useful look at the way facts bounce off of the “birther” community like so many eggs off of a Humvee. David Wiegel (sic) is a regular poster at the Politijab Forum. Actually, no: I joined the site in order to read the threads at that superlative Web forum for “birther”-debunkers. I’ve never posted a comment there. The rest of the argument posits that “Politijab is an astroturf site” because its inbound links come from AOL News, Daily Kos, Topix, and Democratic Underground....
