Charles Johnson, editor of the Little Green Footballs site, has written a post declaring his personal breach with the American right.
He offers 10 reasons, but they all boil down to the same one: His outrage at the bad characters found in right-wing media and blogosphere.
And yes, there's no shortage of bad characters. No shortage on the left-hand side either. Or the middle, for that matter. But why surrender to them? Why let them get away with their claim to define your movement? Why not stand up to them? That was Rudyard Kipling's advice to those who felt as Johnson now feels:
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spokenThese are days for stooping and building....
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build em up with worn-out tools;
Yes, the right is the home of a lot of junk thought and huckstering exploitation. Its also the home of Milton Friedman and James Q. Wilson, Charles Murray and George Borjas, Richard Pipes and Robert Conquest, Tom Wolfe and Philip Larkin, Friedrich Hayek and George Stigler, Leszek Kolakowski and John Lukacs, Bernard Lewis and Fouad Ajami. Ill offset Sarah Palin with Margaret Thatcher, Glenn Beck with Marvin Lasky, Pat Robertson with Richard John Neuhaus....

If there were two more worthless idiots masquerading as conservatives, it would be hard to name them.
The ultimate tempest in a teacup.
Johnson had one moment in the sun and has coasted ever since. His ego and personality restrict him to the grooming of petty grudges. Good riddance.
Like the world needs more “bloggers”. Or bloviating jackasses, for that matter...
Yea, it doesent take long for the backstabber Frum to stick his opportunitistic tongue out.. So who gives an eff about Charles Johnson, anyway? (Or David Frum for that matter)
Might almost be kinda beautiful, in a National Geographic Special sort of way, if not for the flesh-crawlingly creepiness of it all.
or
How about MurryMom?
Mr Johnson (how appropriate!) should grow thicker skin, and accept that not everyone is going to lap up his viewpoints like a puppy on a summer day. And if he has an issue with the right, then it’s up to him to Prove us wrong.

I cant help but suspect that Charles is burned out, but not up to admitting he wants out. So he finds others to blame.
Perfectly stated
Charles Johnson HELL I want Charles BRONSON back!
If Charles thinks that there are less bad characters on the Left than on the right, then he hasn’t been paying attention.
These two characters are the defination of nasty, intolerant extremists. They should get Meg McCain and make their own pup tent party.
Hardly brilliant — more like ignorant. It was a matter of common knowledge in Arkansas that the way to get the Huckster to fire up the Pardon-O-Matic was to put on a good “I Wuz A Sinner But I Came To Jaysuz” show; Johnson was 100% right in that criticism.
He mentioned several times “climate change denial” as a reason for parting ways with the right.
Guess he hadn’t heard the news.
Timing: Priceless.
