A Carnival ship that set sail from Texas had 27 COVID-19-positive people aboard Wednesday, the highest number of reported cases on a US ship since the cruise industry opened back up this summer. The Carnival Vista arrived in Belize City with 26 infected crew members and one infected guest, according to the Belize Tourism Board. Officials noted that there were more than 4,000 people on the ship, and 99.98 percent of the crew was vaccinated, along with the vast majority of the passengers. The infected crew members are now in isolation, but “most are asymptomatic or have very mild symptoms,”...

GALVESTON, Texas — Carnival is implementing a new fleetwide mask policy early on Carnival Vista after several positive cases of COVID were detected on board, according to a statement from the cruise line. According to Cruisemapper.com, the Carnival Vista is currently docked in Cozumel, Mexico. The cruise ship will be returning to Galveston once it completes its seven-day trip to the western Caribbean. The cruise line said the mask policy was issued out of an abundance of caution. The cruise line released this full statement below: “We have implemented our new fleetwide mask policy early on Carnival Vista, given that...
  • Carnival Is Caught in a High-Stakes Contest It Might Not Win

Carnival Is Caught in a High-Stakes Contest It Might Not Win A pandemic conundrum puts CCL stock in a bad place If there was a dubious competition for which blue chip suffered the most from the novel coronavirus pandemic, Carnival (NYSE:CCL) stock would be right up there. Indeed, it was the Diamond Princess cruise ship — under the broad Carnival umbrella — that became the face of the global crisis. Either way, it was a godsend for CCL stock that cruising received the green light to resume operations, however mitigated. Near the end of 2020 to early June of this...

Even though Carnival has not detailed the reason for the cancellation, it comes as the island of Bimini is experiencing increased cases of COVID. As a result, authorities implemented a daily curfew between 7:00 PM and 5:00 AM from July 1 to help stop any further spread.

Carnival Cruise Line removes August cruises from its website except for three vessels. Most bookings are now only available from September. Carnival Cruise Line has now removed most cruises through August, and this follows the removal on the majority of cruises through July just days ago. This will undoubtedly be a worry for booked guests, especially with more than a year of suspensions and uncertainty on resuming operations this summer. Where Are August Cruises? The Miami-based cruise line has now removed most cruises in August except for three vessels. Currently, the Carnival website shows bookings for Carnival Breeze and Carnival...
  • Carnival Cruise Line’s Dedication to the US, Has it Paid Off?

Christine Duffy received a fair share of criticism when she announced Carnival Ships would remain in the US and would not be sailing from foreign ports. A decision based on the constant ‘Carnival is America’s Cruise Line,’ which the president of the US’ largest cruise line repeated whenever there was a chance. With a return of cruising looming brightly ahead, and ships expected to start sailing, although in minimal numbers, in mid-July, it seems the former Cruise Lines International Association president was on the money when she decided to keep the ships in the United States. Advantage Carnival Cruise Line...

Christine Duffy’s message painted the picture quite clearly already, but Carnival Cruise line has now also made amendments to its payment and cancellation policy. In an e-mail sent to guests and travel agents, the cruise line said it had made no change in its plans to cruise in June 2021. The cruise line intends to sail only from US ports and, as the president said before, will not be moving ships to any other homeports to circumvent the CDC and its safe sailing framework. However, Carnival Cruise Line has changed its cancellation and payment policies to give guests more freedom...

Since one of Carnival’s brands in the UK announced domestic sailings for vaccinated guests only, there have been many questions to Carnival Cruise Line if they will follow. The cruise line’s brand ambassador made it very clear on the situation, which is not the same as P&O in the UK. Lots of Guest Questions Carnival Cruise Line Brand Ambassador John Heald cleared some things on Thursday morning following some confusion amongst the cruise community. It comes after sister line P&O revealed that domestic sailings would only be allowed for vaccinated guests. Many guests have asked online if Carnival Cruise Line...
  • Is Royal Caribbean Planning to Homeport in Cozumel?

Royal Caribbean seems to be ramping up its efforts to start sailing, and it looks like the cruise line wants to do this sooner rather than later. With an extended season in Singapore, due to the incredible success of Quantum of the Seas in the city-state and Royal Caribbean announcing this week it will homeport its newest vessel, Odyssey of the Seas in Israel, it looked like that would be it from the cruise giant. Not so. Cozumel’s mayor revealed some interesting news this week; in an article on Riviera Maya News, the major said Royal Caribbean is in negotiations...

Only days after Carnival Cruise Line posted the new Covid measures for when ships will be sailing, those guidelines have been removed again. In a response to Cruise Hive about why these policies have been removed from the website, the cruise line states that in their haste to keep guests and travel agents informed, they posted some information that was not finalized. Which information had not been finalized yet remains to be seen. However, we can expect to see masks, testing, social distancing, and other protocols implemented according to the same statement in full below: “In our haste to keep...

Carnival Cruise Line has released a major update on ship deployments. This includes several changes for when ships will return after their dry dock and some deployment changes. Unfortunately, most of it is not so good as the cruise line has already announced a further suspension until May and further delays ships. -- Carnival Corporation's entire fleet of ships, from all its cruise lines, could be back in the waters by the end of the year, company President and CEO Arnold Donald said today, but there's no firm timeline for restart yet as the dialogue with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control & Prevention is still ongoing. The mixed message of optimism and stagnation came during the company's Q4 earnings call Monday. Carnival Corporation, which counts Carnival Cruise Line, Costa, Cunard, Holland America, Princess, Seabourn and others as part of its global portfolio, reported a $2.2 billion loss for the fourth quarter...

This comes as the cruise line continues to work on making sure operations can resume safely in 2021. Mardi Gras Delayed Again The Mardi Gras will be delayed once again which will be a huge disappointment to those guests that were looking forward to the ship’s debut in February 2021 out of Port Canaveral. While Carnival Corporation focuses on restarting operations in December, a Florida judge might throw a spanner in the works for them. The Miami Herald reports that U.S. District Judge for the Southern District of Florida Patricia Seitz, who heads an investigation against the company for environmental crimes, announced she would require the company to comply with their probation obligations 60-days before ships re-enter U.S. waters. The order will require each ship to carry certification from CEO Arnold Donald regarding its environmental compliance status and serve a 60-day notification period before re-entering. Carnival Corporation lawyers scrambled to have a delay of...
