I read it. Thomas Wayne didn’t kill him. It’s just some guy claiming to be Thomas Wayne. The death of Bruce Wayne’s parents is one of the few things in comics that is actually considered to be canonical forever i.e. you can’t change it.
Grant Morrison, the writer, is a genius of sorts but I have a lot of mixed feelings on “Batman R.I.P.” I can tell you that one thing that people should read - even if they don’t like comic books - is his “All Star Superman” story which demonstrated the final year of Superman’s life. The chapter/issue in which Superman writes his Last Will and Testament is one of the best things I’ve ever read as it sums up his life perfectly - saving a kid about to commit suicide, flying a bus of disabled children over the pyramids in Egypt... Anyone who says comics are silly obviously hasn’t read that (or the Watchmen, V for Vendetta, Batman Strikes Back etc...).
