Barone has a sweet ear for irony; this column is dripping with it. There is no charge against Obama. How could there be? Any suggestion of such is assuming the worst, and Obama is special, like Kennedy, is he not?

Best continuing practice: Whenever you get one of their mailings, send the envelope back with a few pennies in it.
They will not only have to pay the postage (more pennies, more weight, I don’t know if they would have to pay for that extra weight), but, their employee who receives this currency will waste their shift processing it through channels. It will have to be logged, accounted, deposited, etc.
Its fun.
OR;
Mail it back without signature or payment method. I think I wrote “*&%# you” on the form and mailed it back (drunk maybe); they interpreted this as a renewal order! I called them and cancelled after three or four weeks of delivery and I never paid.
This whole ACORN business was a headfake. They count on opposition directed towards this provision; so when they withdraw it, they can look like the concilliators, and make us look like intransigents. This is strategery plain and simple; they put up an absurd demand as if it were a negotiable item, and then, either we go along with its being negotiable, or they make us look inflexible.
Right on. This ACORN business was a HEADFAKE all along. Dems can say this was a valid negotiating point when the whole point was for it to be so outrageous that Repubs lose sight of the rest of the agreement.

Scary thing is this smacks of deep strategery. This ACORN nonsense is put in, it coagulates opposition around that one point. Dems agree to remove it leaving the content of the bill intact. If the whole thing collapses, Dems can claim that Repubs are racist etc. in opposing ACORN.

We do drive crown vics for now. Supt. Weis is stuck with a back-order of Tahoes that I, for my 15 years on the job, cannot see, at all, being a practical vehicle for patrol purposes.
