These people know that they are in a flood area. The vigilant ones were paying attention. The girls camp has been portrayed as upscale. They could afford more weather equipment since they were in the flood area. I’m not seeing why this should be a public expense.
BTW - I live in an area that has occasional tornadoes. There is no public warning system other than the standard weather alerts. It’s up to us to pay attention and that’s how it should be.

Very sensible post. The warnings were there but how many people ignored possible catastrophic danger. Somebody said the prediction was for 8 inches of rain as if that were some sort of excuse for ignoring the danger. 8 inches would cause catastrophic flooding here in Pennsylvania. In west Texas it would be worse because of the difference in soil and they had more rain than that.

Put the blame where it belongs, on parents. People institutionalize their kids from infancy. Right now a fancy daycare ( they call them schools these days) is going up near me with a sign that says it’s program is for 2 year olds on up. Other people put even younger infants in institutions.
