I would say that reality TV is going to make a comeback, however from the little TV I have watched recently I don’t think it ever went away.
I was working in a talent agency in Hollywood during the last strike. Mostly I remember it just hurting the low level writers and episodic actors. It was the catalyst that closed the doors of many of the smaller agencies and sent a lot of agents into management (extra 5% on commissions).
I did a quick search on Sgt. Madden and found this quote from the following article.
It is time for U.S. troops to come home, said Marine Corps Sgt. Liam Madden, speaking to a crowd of about 80 not including reporters gathered in the sanctuary of the Unitarian-Universalist Church in downtown Norfolk. He said active-duty troops have the right to speak out, and he said his opposition to the war is not driven by politics.
Its not political when people heed the call of their conscience, said Madden, 22, who is stationed at Quantico Marine Corps Base and who served in Iraq with Okinawas 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit as a communications specialist. Not one more of my brothers should die for a lie. This is my generations call to conscience. The remarks drew cheers and a standing ovation.
"Agreed. If the station was switching from the English-speaking Air America to "The Best Mix of Mexican Favorites from the 70's, 80's and 90's" there would be only gloating.
If they were going to with righty talk...and didn't have Hannity and Rush...they weren't going to go very far in the ratings."

Saw a Bumper Sticker today that said, "The Germans Supported Their Troops Too." With a crossed out yellow ribbon pictured next to the words. (Los Angeles)
He is probably in college and very popular with the professors.
