Sorry, I think your defense of Mike Brown is bending way too far over backwards. I think there were screw ups at all levels, from city to the feds. Everybody did a bad job. from the President all the way down to the mayor of New Orleans. I hope they can all learn from their mistakes.
Oh, and Brown was competent at his job because of his years representing owners and judges of Arabian horses? I've had it with cronyism in the GOP. Okay. Sure. They all do it. But let's hand out jobs that aren't quite so crucial in the future. Bernie Kerik would've been a lot better as head of the DHS to oversee the inexperienced Brown.
I disagree. I think Bush has given in to cronyism in his second term. His first term was decisive and bold. He's floundering now and suffering the consequenses of inattention. Not that he can't fix this. But he needs to fix it.
Right. This would be a great opportunity for a lot of people to start at the bottom and work their way up, and the profits would remain in the community. 61 billion has already been budgeted. If we're going to throw $$$ at the problem, it ought to stay in New Orleans.
What would be wrong with subsidizing the citizens of New Orleans in the rebuilding of their own city? Jobs leading to an Ownership Society. Seems better than paying Halliburton and having all that dough go back to Texas.
Franklin DELANOR Roosevelt?? If you want to make a convincing argument, you need to get the names straight. It's DELANO. His wife was Eleanor. I often make the same mistake myself late at night.
I'd like to know why we are still spending un-neccessarily after almost five years. As for throwing money at Katrina...let it come from those who will profit from the rebuilding.
Well, why the heck doesn't he get out there and say something memorable and worthwhile instead of these quickie photo ops and the pap he's been giving out?? It's about time the Bush of 9/11 stepped forward.
Sorry. Those jobs have already been promised (contracted) to Halliburton. I think the people of New Orleans should have a stake in rebuilding their own city.
