(I believe this op-ed has one of the best compliations of the ties between Sen. Barack Obama and William Ayers. Only a small portion of this op-ed was printed in the Tracy Press. The entire op-ed is here. I would urge you to read it and pass it along). By Steve Wampler Sen. Barack Obama and his chief image maker, David Axelrod, like to portray the Democratic presidential candidate as a reformer, as a uniter, and as someone above the political fray. It’s a wonderful image that has been crafted with the aid of hundreds of millions of dollars and...

Steve Wampler Friday, 20 July 2007 Page 10 Clinton, McNerney aren't listening to Iraqis It is becoming clear that most congressional Democrats, from presidential candidate Hillary Clinton to Rep. Jerry McNerney, D-Pleasanton, have no idea who America is fighting in Iraq, or they’re misleading the public. In a July 10 op-ed in the New York Daily News, Clinton contends America’s military is caught in a civil war. McNerney also claims the conflict in Iraq is a civil war and that President Bush should withdraw our troops and pursue "diplomatic and political solutions." They and other Democrats ought to spend more...

Dems in Congress don’t get it Steve Wampler/For the Tracy Press Tuesday, 10 April 2007 A letter from Steve Wampler (Author's Note: The fifth paragraph from the end is slightly edited from the printed version to more accurately reflect my thinking). President Bush gets it. So does Osama bin Laden. The Fadhil brothers, Mohammed and Omar, who live in Baghdad and write the “Iraq the Model” blog, get it. Many Americans and Iraqis also get it. One of the few groups of people who don’t understand that Iraq is the central front in the war against terrorism consists of nearly...

Dear Fellow Conservatives, Here's an op-ed I wrote for my local newspaper (The Tracy Press) about the vote by our new congressman, Jerry McNerney, who is an anti-war leftist. Like other Democrats, McNerney backed a resolution to support the troops that would hinder sending reinforcements into Iraq to help the troops. In November, Mr. McNerney defeated Rep. Richard Pombo (R-Tracy, CA.), who was the chairman of the House Resources Committee -- and in about 650 days we would like to return the favor. Please use this op-ed material for local letters to the editor to oppose the Democrats and "White...

Hi, Here's an op-ed I've written with some help from others. Most House Democrats opposed the Bush policy of aggressive interrogations, which have led to breaking up terrorist plots, capturing terrorists and SAVING AMERICAN LIVES. Please use this information in letters to the editor and please forward it to others. This is another story the old media won't report. sruleoflaw Tough tactics produce leads Steve Wampler/For the Tracy Press Tuesday, 24 October 2006 Democrats should ask themselves why they're against tough interrogation tactics when the alternative could cost American lives. As President Bush has led America’s fight against Islamic terrorism...

Hi, Here's a letter-to-the-editor I wrote that was printed today in the San Jose Mercury News. It gives part of the other side of the Mark Foley. If you live outside the SF Bay Area, please feel free to make the letter your own...and send it in to a newspaper. THE MOST IMPORTANT THINGS WE CAN DO DURING THE NEXT 28 DAYS ARE: 1) Get our message out; 2) Help conservative Republicans financially; 3) Go vote. All the best. Dear Editor: The nation's liberals would do well to re-evaluate their suggestion that the Democrats would show more integrity in dealing...

Dear Fellow Conservatives: Please find enclosed mailing addresses for a number of GOP candidates in U.S. Senate and House races. I would urge you to pick one or two candidates and send them your most generous financial contributions (you should include your name, occupation and employer). There are only 30 days until the Nov. 7 election Whether it is about the war in Iraq (from which the Democrats would cut and run), a $2.4 trillion tax increase, partial birth abortion, border security, ballistic missile defense, the war on terrorism or even spending, I think the nation is best served having...

Hi, You may have heard the news today of a CBS/New York Times poll that stated 51 percent of the American people do not believe Iraq is linked to the war on terrorism. It is a reflection of a biased and dishonest American MSM that people don't know better. If the Democrats should win in November, there will be a "wave the white flag, cut and run surrender in Iraq" (along with cuts or the decimation of the U.S. ballistic missile defense program). I have included a letter that my wife submitted to the Tracy Press (Aug. 22 edition) about...

Author's note: This column is about 300 words longer than the version that appears in today's Tracy Press. By Steve Wampler Can anything good happen in Iraq? Apparently not, in the view of many reporters and editors at most major American newspapers, wire services and television networks. Every day, Americans get their dose of bad news from Iraq -- terrorist attacks, casualty figures, imminent civil war, the military failing to meet enlistment goals, what Cindy Sheehan thinks, or what Lynndie England did. Where are the stories about the heroism of America's soldiers, about the accomplishments of the military, about soldiers...

Hi, If the last month or so have demonstrated anything, with the withdrawal of Harriet Miers and the sudden GOP actions to cut federal spending, it shows that when the Republican Party hears from conservatives and Americans they can suddenly develop the backbone to do the right thing. Now the Republicans, particularly a cadre of "moderates," need to hear from us in no uncertain terms that we want to fight terrrorism by drilling for oil in Alaska and want to at least try to move toward more energy independence. In this post, I have three main items: 1) The names...

By Steve Wampler Starved to death because of a state judge's order, Terri Schiavo has been treated worse than a convicted murderer. Suspects on trial for murder cannot be deprived of their lives without being proven guilty "beyond a reasonable doubt." A strong case can be made that this standard was never met to prove Terri Schiavo preferred death to being disabled and was truly in a persistent vegetative state. Though many courts have reviewed the Schiavo case, the federal and state judges essentially only accepted Florida probate judge George Greer's findings of fact. And Greer showed a blatant disregard...

By Steve Wampler It didn't take Saddam Hussein long to retaliate. On March 20, 2003, coalition forces fired a round of cruise missiles at a suspected Hussein meeting site in Baghdad. A short time later, air raid sirens sounded in northern Kuwait at Camp Champion, where 3,000 to 4,000 U.S. soldiers were based. At about 12:30 p.m., the cry came over the loudspeaker, "Dynamite, Dynamite, Dynamite" meaning "this is a real attack"). "Scuds inbound from southern Iraq." Karl Zinsmeister, an embedded reporter and the editor-in-chief of The American Enterprise magazine, joined the soldiers in throwing on his gas mask and...

John O'Neill, the author of "Unfit for Command," will be interviewed this Sunday night, Sept. 5, on my radio show at 8 p.m. in Northern California. The show is heard on KCBC, 770 AM. O'Neill's book, which has played a major impact in this year's presidential election, is scheduled to hit no. 1 on the New York Times bestseller list on Sunday. The radio show is broadcast in the Stockton-Modesto-Sacramento-Livermore area of Northern California. Call-in line numbers are 209-847-7700 and 800-593-5222. The O'Neill interview will be rebroadcast on Saturday, Sept.11, at 3 p.m. on KCBC Radio (770 AM) throughout Northern...

March 17, 2004, 1:10 p.m. Where the Dem Was John Kerry chose not to support our troops. By Barbara Comstock "I actually did vote for the $87 billion before I voted against it." — John Kerry, March 16, 2004 Perhaps this is one of John Kerry's "nuanced" positions. Perhaps it sounds better in the original French. However, the English translation of the above is, "It depends upon what the meaning of 'voted for' is." In October 2003, when the vote to fund our troops came up in the Senate, John Kerry's presidential fortunes were sinking. He started out his run...

Terrorists rooting for Kerry victory Tracy Press June 2, 2004 By Steve Wampler Though John Kerry has declined to identify them, the presumptive Democrat presidential nominee claims several foreign leaders back him for president. Let’s look at the different ways leaders of some nations, particularly those in the "Axis of Evil," have given their nod to Kerry. Though Saddam Hussein is currently indisposed, his fellow tyrants in North Korea and Iran are showing their people that John Kerry is their choice. Apparently, they think their future is more secure with the Massachusetts senator. For example, this past winter speeches by...

Dear fellow conservatives: The die has been cast. The Republican Party, once the party of limited government and lower taxes, has decided overwhelmingly to cast its lot with the largest expansion of the federal government since Lyndon Baines Johnson. I have spoken with leading anti-tax officials in Washington, D.C. and they tell me we have only a 10 percent chance of stopping this Medicare prescription drug boondoggle. I would urge you to call California Sen. Dianne Feinstein, Louisiana Sen. John Breaux, the Republican leadership in the Senate (Sen. Bill Frist) (toll-free number to the Capitol switchboard is 800-648-3516 or 202-224-3121)...

As printed in today's Tracy Press (no link available as the Press does not post its op-ed pages) September 14, 2003 Among the three leading candidates to replace Gray Davis in the gubernatorial recall, only one – State Sen. Tom McClintock – seems to have the interests of California taxpayers at heart. McClintock is one of those exceedingly rare politicians who has never voted for a tax increase. He is the only gubernatorial contender who has promised not to raise Californians’ taxes under any circumstances. And heaven knows that Californians, who are paying their highest taxes in the Golden State’s...

Hi, The issue of giving drivers licenses to illegal aliens has the potential to be a huge issue -- and to affect the gubernatorial recall election. According to a recent Zogby poll, two-thirds of Californians oppose granting drivers licenses to illegal aliens. Cruz Bustamante and Gray Davis support the recently-signed bill; Arnold Schwarzenegger says he's opposed to drivers licenses for illegal aliens (BUT will also oppose the referendum to overturn Democrat-pass legislation). Arnold seems to be playing both sides against the middle -- and, by opposing the referendum, WOULD LET THE LAW HE CLAIMS TO OPPOSE GO INTO EFFECT. Mr....
