  • Burning Down Detroit (Why razing much of Motor City might help Michigan's economic woes)

I live in Michigan and work in the auto industry. Michigan is the shining example of what Barak’s socialism, no, Marxism will do for the rest of the country. America, get ready to join us in the sewer. It used to be that California was the leader in trends. With Barak “shama-lama-ding-dong” Obama, Michigan is now the shining sewer on the hill to which he, Jennifer Granholm, Harry Reid, Queen Polosi, and the rest of the rats aspire.

Ah, it's even worse than that in this laughing-stock state of Michigan that I live in. The current plan is to exclude everyone who voted in the Republican primary from voting in a new primary. The problem is there were 280,000 Democrats & independents who crossed over who would now not be able to vote again in June (from News 8 in Grand Rapids, 3/18/08). LOL. Jenny and her ass-clowns in our legislature can't do anything right. Meanwhile, the state bleeds due to the wounds inflicted by failed liberal policies. Last one out, turn off the lights. Michigan is finished.

I agree with you. I will vote for McCain for reasons I have already mentioned, but I will not contribute to the Republican Party. My wife, God bless her, has been sending back all their mail with a note saying that we will contribute again when they start representing our conservative values. She also says the same thing when they call us.

Punish the Republican party by not giving them money. Don’t punish fellow conservatives by letting Clinton or Obama win the election.

McCain’s damage will be short lived if any. The damage from Clinton and/or Obama will take decades to undo.

I will vote for McCain even though I’ve posted here and said that I can’t? Why? The only issue that matters is keeping the savages at bay. If we don’t do that, we won’t have a country at all. If John McCain is the nominee, I will gladly vote for him because I believe he will nuke the savages if needed.
Beyond that, I’ll continue to work for the conservative cause, and keep hope alive for my children.

I will not let any president, especially a democrat president define who I am, ever. I lived through Carter, I lived through Clinton, I can live through the worst they have to throw at us.

Let’s not screw ourselves by sitting out the election in November.

Surely you must see the irony, a dead former president is more qualified than a living McCain. Think of it, Reagan showing up in the elections results. Wouldn’t it be beautiful?

As a conservative, I can live with voting for Romney - I did that in the MI primary hoping McCain would lose. It was clear by then that my first choice, Fred Thomspon, was not going to win MI.

As a conservative, I can’t vote for McCain and live with myself. Instead, I will write in Ronald Wilson Reagan for president in 2008.

I was too young to vote for Reagan in 1980 so I will make it up to him in 2008.

    Who will join me?

If McCain is our candidate, I have decided to write in Ronald Wilson Reagan as my vote. I was too young to vote in 1980 so I plan on making it up in 2008.

I will not be able to live with myself if I vote for McCain.

Reagan 2008! The only conservative choice left to us.

Boy it’s easy to get people worked up. If I can’t push the button for McCain, I’ve decided that I will write in Ronald Wilson Reagan as a protest vote.

Any other true conservatives out there with me?

I was too young to vote for Reagan in 1980, so I’ll make up for it by voting for him in 2008. At least I’ll be able to live with myself!

I can’t vote for McCain. I voted for Romney in Michigan because I could not stand the thought of McCain winning our state. Fred was my guy, and I was very unhappy about having to vote against someone I don’t like versus voting for someone I do like.

The thought of McCain being our national candidate is more than I can bear. I know where Ann is coming from, and hate to admit that I’ve had the same irrational thought. If I’m going to be forced to vote for a RINO who is really a Democrat anyway and despises me for being a conservative, I’d rather just vote for someone who at least has the integrity to admit their true party affiliation.

Oh my goodness, I’ve just talked myself into it>

    I’m also voting for Hillary.

I’m not the only one that sees the similarities. Huck is too naive for his own good. Setting a rapist free only to cross the border and kill even when women were pleading don’t let him go is Jimmy Carter naive. Just because the guy had been castrated was enough for Huck to have compassion, naive compassion. Sorry, that’s dangerous.

I lived through the Carter years and remember them all too well. Jimmy had good intentions, Huck has good intentions. Good intentions will ruin the economy and let the terrorists come here and kill us.

I hate Jimmy Carter - hate being too soft a word. Huckabee has many of the same flaws, and would be bad for all of us.

Wake up sheeple! Huck is Jimmy Carter in republican clothing: well intentioned, but dumb as a stump when it comes to the world outside Arkansas. God help us if Huckabee gets the nomination.

Michigan is a crap hole due to the cluelessness of Granholm and her democratic cronies. Raising taxes always solves the problem, right? There’s no chance that basic economics or history shows anything else, is there? Maybe in Canada, not in Michigan. Where I work, we can’t hire qualified people, they’ve all left.

Last one out of Michigan, turn out the lights. Get ready for more budget problems because the $400 million that was supposed to be cut along with the tax increase won’t be. All those aholes are doing is reducing spending which is not the same as cutting spending.

If I stay long enough, I should be able to buy Michigan for a fire sale price.

I feel sorry for all the rest of the idiots who stay here like I do.

Don’t worry, She’s going to fix everything by raising the income tax from 3.9 to 4.6%, adding sales tax to services, and who know what else. Hey Jenny, get a clue, you don’t make this state attractive to anyone by taxing the hell out of the survivors of your failed policies. I moved to TX in 1992 and came back in 1995. I think it’s time to move again. By the way, I’m a highly skilled, highly paid engineer. Why would Jenny want me to stay here?

I’ve lived in MI most of my life. It’s painful to watch the Democrats led by Granholm pull out their tax and spend solutions to fix the economy. History repeats itself, and the Democrats must ignore history or they would have to face the fact that they are complete and utter failures. Their policies to tax everything that is not currently taxed, and raise taxes on everything that is taxed will continue to drive away businesses, residents, college graduates, pretty much everyone that produces so the Democrats and their dependents can consume. I’ll continue to stay here. I figure that once this state is destroyed once and for all, I can buy it on the cheap and make it my own little conservative island in the midst of a liberal wreckage.
