October 21, 2004 | 13:52:21 EDT People who live in glass anchor booths shouldn't throw stones. Even though CBS has not even suspended any of the figures in the Memogate scandal and lied about having an "unimpeachable source," last night, Dan Rather chastised the U.S. Defense Department on its handling of the Abu Ghraib prison investigation. "At a U.S. Army court-martial in Baghdad today, a guilty plea from the highest- ranking soldier yet charged in the Abu Ghraib prisoner-abuse scandal. In a plea-bargain deal, staff sergeant Ivan Frederick, a Virginia reservist, admitted to five charges, including assault, indecency and mistreating...

Kerry said to be excommunicated Los Angeles, Oct. 18 (CWNews.com) - A consultant to the Vatican has said Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry has incurred the penalty of excommunication from the Catholic Church. The consultant made his statement in a highly unusual letter to Marc Balestrieri, a Los Angeles canon lawyer who formally sued John Kerry in ecclesiastical court for heresy. Balestrieri, who launched his case earlier this year by filing a heresy complaint in Kerry's home archdiocese of Boston, told EWTN's "World Over" program on Friday that he had received an unusual, indirect communication from the Vatican's Congregation for...

LAST year a number of "investigative journal ists" had a field day with "news" of a secret Saudi plan to help President Bush's re-election. The charge that made many headlines and became the subject of much television chatter passed as news: The Saudis would bring the price of oil down to $15 to make the average American, who drives a gas-guzzler, happy, thus persuading him to vote for Bush. The claim was picked up by Sen. Edward Kennedy, an old adept of conspiracy theories, and inspired several books and "documentaries" in which Bush was labeled "The Arabian Candidate." Some weeks...
  • Frontline:A Fair Analysis OF Bush and Kerry?

I was just warching Frontline. They are naturally putting Kerry in the more favorable light and Bush the worst light. I just turned it off. I then put on Hardball and it was no better.Matthews has a panel of Democrats with the exception of Ben Ginsburg all trying to spin it for a Kerry win in the next debate. Oreilly ,who I won`t watch again ,is now worring about the Sinclair documentory being aired before the election. He is squaking for fairness for Kerry. He is not that concerned about Fahrenheit 911 as much as he is about 'Stolen Honor"both being aired around...
  • Mellencamp anti-Bush concert canceled

A Miami Beach concert by John Mellencamp and Kenny "Babyface" Edmonds, which was meant to raise cash for the left-wing political left-wing political action committee Moveon PAC, has been canceled. The concert was to be part of Moveon's Vote for Change Tour, which includes several anti-Bush entertainers performing benefit concerts in battleground states. A page on the Jackie Gleason Theatre's website says the Oct. 8 concert has been canceled but gives no reason. It directs ticket holders to contact TicketMaster for refunds. Concert promoter Jon Stoll of Fantasma Productions said the cancellation had nothing to do with lagging ticket sales....
  • Has Anyone Noticed The Change In Oreilly?

I have noticed a big change in O`Reilly. The "new" Bill is now not taking sides or giving an honest opinion.Tonight he would not even say who he thought won the debate last night. He said the people will decide. All well and good but he was quick to say that Bush lost his debate last week..He had on Tammy Bruce and Juan Williams tonight. However when Ms. Bruce said she thought Edwards seemed outmatched by Chaney, O`Reilly ran to the defense of Edwards. Last night he said he felt sorry for Rather and even Martha Stewart.I remember for months before the pod...

Kerry Campaign Touted Forged Doc Info in April The Kerry campaign made an explicit reference to information in at least one of four forged military documents broadcast 14 days ago by CBS's "60 Minutes" - in a detailed campaign press release attacking President Bush's National Guard service dated months before the Sept. 8 "60 Minutes" broadcast. Appearing in Kerry campaign literature on April 27, 2004, under the headline "Key Unanswered Questions on Bush's Record in National Guard" was the reference to "verbal orders" to recommend Bush's suspension from flying because he missed a physical - issued by Bush's commander, Lt....

CBS Radio Host Fired After Criticizing Rather A talk host at the CBS Radio Network's Seattle affiliate was fired just days after he called for CBS anchorman Dan Rather to resign or be fired for airing forged military records in a bid to hurt President Bush's reelection chances. "I said I felt Rather should either retire or be forced out over this," former KIRO-AM radio host Brian Maloney told the Associated Press. "I really felt he was taking the network's credibility down with him." Story Continues Below But KIRO execs apparently felt that Maloney crossed the line. "What they have...

Saturday, Sept. 18, 2004 10:55 a.m. EDT Texas U.S. Atty Mum on Plans to Probe Rathergate A spokesman for U.S. Attorney Richard B. Roper, whose jurisdiction covers the Northern District of Texas, said Friday that she couldn't comment on whether Roper's office was planning to probe the alleged forgery of President Bush's military records, which were aired by CBS's "60 Minutes" last week. "We would never confirm or deny an investigation," Roper's spokeswoman, Kathy Colvin, told NewsMax. Colvin suggested the decision to initiate a probe would more likely come from the Justice Department. "You might want to touch base with...

I just heard John Gibson in his segment called My Word. He outlined the case in Rathergate and then ended with an off handed comment in regards to Rather getting a fraudulent document and airing it with "so what,we all have made mistakes etc. Why is the media treating a crime of fraud which this probably is with a cavalier attitiude? I happen to think that if this was perpetrated against Kerry the entire media establishment would have turned the world upside down to find out who was behind it.

Rather Says Will No Longer Address Charges of 'Professional Rumor Mill' September 12, 2004, 21:39:50 EDT Dan Rather was quoted in the New Zealand Herald as saying that there was no use debating the authenticity of his documents which he claims are proof that George W. Bush committed any number of unethical acts while in the National Guard. "Until someone shows me definitive proof that they are not [authentic], I don't see any reason to carry on a conversation with the professional rumour mill."

September 12, 2004, 11:02:47 EDT Ben Barnes, the Democratic lobbyist and former lieutenant governor of Texas who was featured prominently in the 60 Minutes report that triggered the Memogate controversy, was the co-sponsor of a fund-raiser for a liberal district attorney in Texas along with Dan Rather's daughter, Robin, an Austin-based environmental activist. According to the web site of Ronnie Earle, district attorney for Travis County, Texas, Ben Barnes and Robin Rather were among a the small group of sponsors for an October 3, 2000 fund-raising event for Earle's reelection campaign.
