Arizona Republican Kari Lake has a three-point lead over Democratic Rep. Ruben Gallego in this year’s U.S. Senate race, and Lake’s margin would be slightly wider if incumbent Sen. Kyrsten Sinema decides to seek reelection as an independent.

  • A Republican Spending Problem Will the House be willing to cut programs that benefit G.O.P. voters?

As congressional Republicans prepare for a budget showdown later this year with President Biden, they say that they will insist on large cuts to federal spending. So far, though, they have left out some pretty important details: what those cuts might be. Republicans have been more willing to talk about what they won’t cut. Party leaders have promised not to touch Medicare and Social Security. Republicans generally oppose reductions in military spending and veterans’ benefits. And neither party can do anything about interest payments on the debt that the government has already accumulated. Combined, these categories make up almost two-thirds...

  • What to Do About Fiscally Irresponsible States Like Illinois?

    06/22/2017 8:03:39 AM PDT · by Reily · 47 replies
This needs its own separate but more general topic. “What Do You Do With States That Get Into Fiscal Trouble Like Illinois?” I guess Illinois is the worst case but are not California, New York and others not far behind? Question: Can this be laid at the feet of Nixon’s “Revenue Sharing”? Doesn’t federal revenue sharing allow states to skate their own fiscal responsibilities, since Uncle Sucker (meaning other states!) will now pay its bills? What are some solutions?

Question: What more can be done to weaken the MSM. In my estimation the best think to do is hit them economically. Refuse to by their product and products associated with them. Many MSM entities are on the brink of economic collapes, a push here & there might me just what it takes. For example we have heard about the financial problems of the New York Times. What if all NYC GOP'er refused to buy it? Any other ideas?

The text that is in quotes are excerpts from Warner's canned response back to my first letter asking him to not support the bill! “...As the debate in Congress continues, it is of utmost importance to recognize that our current health care system is financially unsustainable. ..." Only the government run systems are unsustainable! All current US State run systems (Ca, Mass, Tenn, others) are in the red and don’t even come close to living up toward the extravagant promises made by the state politicians that insisted on them. In fact these systems sole recourse is to pass costs to...

Anybody have a feel for what direction Congress may go? Any possibility that we will recapture Congress? Only capture one house? Which one? My gut feel is it doesn't matter who wins the White House the RAT majorty is likely to incease in both Houses. I would like to be convinced that my gut is wrong!

Ok Roughly 72% have expressed support for Romney. Now I imagine the majority of that support is simply 'Not McCain !', which is pretty much where I fall. I originally was for Thompson, liked Hunter (but Hunter violated my personal 'candidate viability rule-of-thumb'!) Everyone else of the original group were distance 2nd, 3rds & so on in my candidate preference. So I want from the membership arguments PRO & CON regarding Romney. On the PRO side I am particularly interested in hearing from people who started out Pro-Romney (and I guess still are!) I want facts preferably with links to...

History Channel show on Camp Douglas, so far not bad. Whats really interesting is the references to those non-existent Black Confederates. Just a handful but an interesting and matter-of-fact admission of their existence.
