  • Starbucks raising U.S. drinks prices next week

I like the taste of Starbucks coffee. I buy it at the local supermarket for $8/bag ground. Brew it each morning for my wife and I. One bag lasts us 3 weeks. So $8 divided by 21 days = $0.38/day. Now if we each went in to “experience” the Starbucks experience at the coffee shop each day it would be $2.30 (@ $1.65 each for regular...sorry, how dumb of me...a grande...cup of coffee) x 21 days = $48.

Simple answer >>>> brew it at home

    I agree re: the McGraw’s

They will be the next ones to be shown the door from the country music fans. They are so far up the Clinton’s asses you would need a tow truck to pull them out. F ‘em. He ain’t nothing but a dimestore cowboy anyhow.

  • I've apologized enough - Imus 12 April

    Reagan08 to IDontLikeToPayTaxes

Was what Don Imus said in very good taste? Obviously not. I agree he should have just apologized on TV/Radio but told Al Shiton and Jesse Jackass to get bent.

This could be the beginning of the end folks. No,IMan is not a comedian but he is in the “entertainment” industry. IF this is the standard being set, then it should hold true for guys like Chris Rock (forever dropping the “cracker” “spic” “nigger” “ho” “bitch” “kike” lines in his routine) Carlos Mencia (dropping the “beaner” term all the time); nearly EVERY rapper out there should have their CD’s pulled from the shelf. I haven’t heard one yet that isn’t calling a black female a “tramp” “bitch” or “whore/ho” all the way down to pulling “All in the Family” reruns from syndicated TV.

I can’t begin to tell you how many times I have heard the word “honkey” from a black person’s mouth. Do I care? Not in the least. What happens when guys like Malik Shabbaz comes on Sean Hannity’s show and calls him “cracker” or the “white devil”? Is that any different than Don Imus calling a group of people “nappy headed ho’s? I think not but not a GODDAMN word is said about Shabazz -— an ADMITTED WHITEY HATER.

Once again, it was said in bad taste but with MSNBC pulling his show and the “outrage” and “scarring for life” comments will set the wheels in motion for an even greater POLITICALLY CORRECT world.....just when I thought it couldn’t be any more PC!! Although I wasn’t even born yet, I gotta believe this country was much better and life was easier in my parents “hey day” (50’s and 60’s).

Just because FOX isn’t 100% conservative you all quit watching it!

    Shame !

They do report both sides! We must know what the enemies are doing! Ohly the blinds to the other sides are doomed to defeat at all fronts!

Finally, someone on here gets it!! Do they have some libs on there? hell yes. Are the majority leaning right? hell yes and thank god.

Gingrich, North, Hannity, O’Reilly, Hume, Cavuto, Bret Baer, Megyn Kelly, ....all pretty conservative people. Yeah, you have your Whorealdos, Colmes and Greta with their liberal BS. You’re never going to have GOP TV? Just accept it and thank god we aren’t stuck with just the others to pick from.

I can’t name more than two people on any other single station that leans right.

Exactly what I was thinking. I would like Newt to be the first name listed if possible. Given the alternative (Hitlery, Obama, Breck Girl) would take it the other way with Rudy first I suppose.

The thought of casting a vote in the GE for the third party or alternative party just baffles the dogsh!t out of me. Some of you people will only vote for a bible thumper and it is absurd.

Let me get this straight....you will not vote for anyone other than a bible thumper? You can't wrap religion around everything. I happen to be a Christian with the utmost moral values and standards. So before you start, don't label me an athiest, agnostic, et al.

There are things that I don't like about every candidate in question. I just have to boil it down to those I just couldn't get over. I can't stand John McCain but you can bet your a$$ I will take the lesser of two evils if he's our guy vs. Hitlery, Edwards or Obama. This staying home crap cost us control this past November and it makes me sick.

Hunter and Huckabee are great conservatives. They have ZERO name recognition and if you have ZERO name recognition in January of 2007 for the 2008 election, then you have ZERO chance of winning the ticket.

I will tell you this right now...if everybody takes your position on the "candidates" we think will be on our ticket, say hello to President Clinton.

For Christsake, when are you people going to realize that the perfect candidate isn't out there.

  • What's bad about GM? The cars

    Reagan08 to Clemenza

America makes reliable and stylish trucks (Tahoe, Silverado, F250, etc.) The cars design is not very appealing and I do agree...they cut corners and put the cheapest d@mn plastics in them. You can get away with putting that in a truck. Japanese cars are reliable but do nothing for me in terms of style. German cars have it all over the Americans and Japanese in terms of style and appeal. Although their reliability has taken a hit recently as well.

I had this discussion with my father. I know of not one single auto mfgr that makes a trouble free product these days. Lexus is pretty close but they don't have much in the way of style anymore. I never thought I would feel like this but I think today's styling of autos across the board is less appealing. Compare the last gen. BMW's to todays. The last gen. Lexus is far better looking than what is put out today. The new Tahoe looks even more like a shoe box than before (interior is much better though). New caddys??? uck. New Benz do look better. Porsche always looks good.

Its a roll of the dice no matter what you buy (American, Jap, Italian, German).

So you reference a one in a million story. I am talking everyday Joe's here. I view my home as my annuity. Being 38 years old, I can't depend on SS. I'll have my 401K and a home that is free and clear when I am 60 years old. I sell it, move into one that is half the size for half the price (or further away for 1/3 the price) and put $500K in my pocket. I think $500K plus another $1.5MM from my 401K and my wife's 401K will suffice for the rest of our lives. Hell, just 4% annual interest off of $2MM would generate $80K a year. With no mortgage to pay, I think we could "get by" on $6,500/month. Renting is foolish....but all of my landlord clients love you for it.

I am a Commercial Lender for a Bank and if you came to the Bank where I work look for a commercial loan for your business and it was determined that you don't even own your home, your request would be heavily scrutinized. I have never made a loan in my 16 years of banking to a business owner that rented.

In the five homes that I have owned, I have spent less than $5K on repairs for all of them. Once was 13 years old, one was 15 years old, one was nine years old, two were brand new construction.

I could sell me house right now and pay cash for a townhouse in an area 30 minutes away and still put $200K in my pocket. I don't because I enjoy the 3.2 acres of ground I am on and the large home sitting on it. ITs all a matter of what you want and what makes you happy. When I get older, I'm sure I won't want 3.2 acres and 5,000 SF of space to maintain. Even then, you can bet your ass that i won't even THINK about renting.

I know I would not have the assets I have now (toys, cars, house....not to mention the other real estate investments I'll get into) if it weren't for OWNING MY OWN HOMES over the last 15 years.

The Washington DC metro area has been very good to owners of real estate. Even 45 minutes away like I am.

It all depends upon timing. How long you are going to be there and what the real estate market is at the time.

My third house I only lived in for 14 months (due to divorce). The r/e market was heating up and I turned a SIX FIGURE profit. Bought for 3 and sold for 4...........now they are selling in the low to mid 6's.

In a good real estate market, even if you are only going to be in the home for 4-5 years, you'll make some cash.

Where I live rent is just as expensive as buying (for comparable living accommodations). I have a buddy that has never owned a day in his life -- although with the many programs available these days he certainly could have--. I on the other hand have owned five homes since I was 23 (now 38) and have rolled so much equity and purchased two new vehicles for $110,000 cash. On top of that, I save thousands each year in taxes due to the mtg deduction and r/e taxes paid. Please tell me how in the world you could do that even if you were able to save $400-500/month in renting vs buying (mortgaging).

On top of everything else I have my current home on a 20 year pay out which will provide me an asset of CONSERVATIVELY in the $1.2MM-1.5MM range (valued at $965,000 today)in 2025.

No one will ever be able to convince me that renting is a good thing........unless you are moving state to state every couple of years.
