Given that J6 kind of petered out, it unfortunately seems likely that they’ll put President Trump in jail and except for a few lone actors, no one will do anything about it.

Even so, something like this seems pretty hard to prevent. You give a kid an automatic weapon and he’s always going to be able to take out a few people first.
Good response by DeSantis. I would have thought he was wimpy if he didn’t get his couple of digs in against President Trump. After all, President Trump has been insulting him left and right, and some turnabout is fair play.

Maybe. If he is arrested he’ll be in and out of NYC the same day and then bailed out and back down in Florida. Then his lawyers will delay the trial by at least a year. Anything that happens this week is just an intermediate move, not the end game.

Courts won’t have their say until after the election, which is why he would do it now. Once he gets the votes he won’t care whether courts end up allowing it or not.

The main question on abortion is, and has always been, whether unborn persons are “men” as referred to in the Constitution as deserving protection of life and liberty, or not.
The Supreme Court said it won’t answer that question, but each state can answer it for itself.
In our system, at the end of the day the Constitution means whatever the Supreme Court says it means. So theoretically any of the concerns you have could materialize.

I can’t understand why she did this. China has been 100% consistent on Taiwan forever and it’s looking like when the chips are really down sometime in the future, China really is willing to go to war over this issue.
I know we don’t agree with them, but why stir the pot unnecessarily like this?
The central debate on abortion is, and always has been, whether an unborn person is a “person” who is entitled to the same legal protections against harm as a person who has been born.
What the Supreme Court did is say, “the Constitution doesn’t answer this question, so this question goes to each state to decide for itself.”
It’s that simple. Some states will decide an unborn person is a “person,” while others will not.
