"I have no interest in getting involved in some type of manufactured circus by some Soros DA," DeSantis said.
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has finally weighed in on the looming indictment and potential arrest of former President Donald Trump.

DeSantis' remarks are quite interesting and worth reading in full.
"So I've seen rumors swirl," DeSantis said. "I have not seen any facts yet, and so I don't know what's gonna happen. But I do know this, the Manhattan District Attorney is a Soros-funded prosecutor. And so he, like other Soros-funded prosecutors, they weaponize their office to impose a political agenda on society at the expense of the rule of law and public safety."
"He has downgraded over 50% of the felonies to misdemeanors," DeSantis continued. "He says he doesn't want to even have jail time for the vast, vast majority of crimes. And what we've seen in Manhattan is we've seen the crime rate go up and we've seen citizens become less safe."
"And so you're talking about this situation with, and look, I don't know what goes into paying hush money to a porn star to secure silence over some type of alleged affair," he added. "I just, I can't speak to that, but what I can speak to is that if you have a prosecutor who is ignoring crimes happening every single day in his jurisdiction, and he chooses to go back many, many years ago to try to use something about porn star 'hush money' payments, you know, that's an example of pursuing a political agenda and weaponizing the office.'
"And I think that that's fundamentally wrong," he remarked. "I also think it's important to point out when you're talking about these Soros-funded prosecutors, yes, they may do a high profile politicized prosecution and that's bad. But the real victims are ordinary New Yorkers, ordinary Americans, and all these different jurisdictions that they get victimized every day because of the reckless political agenda that these Soros DAs bring to their job. They ignore crime and they empower criminals. And that hurts people, hurts a lot of people every single day."
"The Soros district attorneys are a menace to society, and I'm just glad that I'm the only governor in the country that's actually removed one from office during my tenure," he noted.
DeSantis also said that his office won't be involved in a "manufactured crisis" by the Soros DA.
"We won’t be involved in this," he added. "I have no interest in getting involved in some type of manufactured circus by some Soros DA... He’s trying to do a political spectacle. He’s trying to virtue signal for his base. I’ve got real issues I got to deal with here in FL."
Trump supporters have been roasting DeSantis online about remaining silent over the potential arrest of former President Donald Trump. It will be worth watching if they believe that DeSantis spoke out strongly enough against the political prosecution over if they think he took a veiled shot at the former president.
We are fortunate that this low character political opportunist has revealed himself. I can scarcely imagine a more contemptible, cowardly, and craven response.
Crazy Insane stuff!
From time to time defining moments pop up that give one a chance to show real character. Those opportunities are fleeting and rare.
DeSantis’ rather bland remarks didn’t elevate his stature IMO. He blew the opportunity that could have elevated him in the eyes of many, and perhaps made him an instant front runner.
DeSantis is fundamentally a lawyer and a politician. So its not really a surprise he responded this way.
Ha! I caught that too! Did Trump no real favor there.../
Agreed. For now I'm voting Trump. But I'll cut DeSantis some slack for taking the weekend off and waiting until Monday to respond to a Saturday news story.
You can tell who has leadership experience and who doesn’t by their comments on a leader’s actions.
“I can scarcely imagine a more contemptible, cowardly, and craven response.”
***********
The supreme irony is that DeSantis’s tepid response is encouraging the Leftist mob to do the same thing to him down the road.
Good, reasoned statement, which is sure to not satisfy the forever Trump supporters. As I was writing elsewhere, he’d get around to making a statement when he’s ready. I like the highlight of out-of-control Soros prosecutors and the unique fact that he as governor has successfully removed one. Nice, we need more action like that across the country. As Zelden in New York commented more than once, firing Bragg would have been his first move as governor.
Seriously. The echo chamber of the EverTrumpers on this forum is deafening. Here’s a guy who for no good cause at all has been subject to gratuitous and juvenile attacks from Trump for months. Then he’s criticized for not coming to a bully’s defense fast enough or strong enough. I think it’s actually a very strong statement
I acknowledge the arguments of people who want Trump to be the candidate. I just happen to disagree with them. But “agree to disagree” is anathema to these people, and they act like libs in this regard. Outside the echo chamber they sound like lunatics
Okay, so get involved, Ron!
In fact, you ARE INVOLVED, whether you want to be or not.
If you want ANY support--you'd better block this assault on "society," on the electoral process, on the USA--and if you don't, you are definitely NOT Presidential material!
DeSantis might not be as big a fan of DJT as you are. Can’t imagine why...
Sounds sanctimonious to me.
Good response by DeSantis. I would have thought he was wimpy if he didn’t get his couple of digs in against President Trump. After all, President Trump has been insulting him left and right, and some turnabout is fair play.
WRONG! Very bad response, very political.
De Santis is talking out of both sides of his mouth, just like every politician we do not need.
If De Santis believes what he said, he MUST get involved and block this assault! If he doesn't, he is NOT Presidential material and is to be scorned.
Which is EXACTLY what we do NOT need!
“I’m not sure what the onlyTrumpers think DeSantis can legally do?”
I don’t expect DeSantis to deny a legal order for extradition. I do expect him to say that the: 1. Investigation. 2. The witnesses credibility. 3. Political purposes. 4. The no crime, crime, since it wasn’t even an affair. 5. The realization that the NY DA never prosecuted Bill CLinton for a similar event. 6. That the DA is Soros backed, which makes it look even more political. 7. That the SDNY let the Biden’s go unmentioned when it comes to events related to CCP spying and influence buying. 8. That this is basically been investigated and dropped by the Mueller team. 9. That Hillary Clinton’s campaign finance law breaking was addressed with a fine from the same office.
I would expect him to say that it’s clearly only political, plays to a justice system that is entirely political. That these activities are unwanted by the American Public and will not be tolerated in Florida. That these types of events prove what Donald Trump has been saying about the corruption and power of government officials and their overreach based upon political purposes. That if sex wasn’t an issue with the Clintons, even unwanted sexually explicit behavior, than it should have been with other Democrats such as Trump (when this occurred). That fines should be considered for campaign finance violations, not arrests, like with Hillary, Bill, Barrack, and the Governor or NY State.
So a Statement that says laws, prosecutions, and accountability cannot be different for Republicans that are former democrats, than say active Democrats.
These same morons here have been saying DeSantis did not have to respond
over the last few days. Trump has not been indicted, so DeSantis did not have
to respond. Wow. What a 360 degree turn.
I guess the “Where’s Ron” trolling got to DeSantis.
Better late than never.
What a weasel!!
He just lost my support. DeSantis just demonstrated astonishing LACK of leadership--and that he is a politician, not a hero or a leader which America needs now more than ever.
He’s got my vote for pres.
