Maybe vaguely, but she did her job. I interpreted for many people I disliked- heads of state, legislators, prosecutors, criminals, and the media. What they said often was stupid, often wrong, but it was my duty to do the best job I could to faithfully convey what was said to and from another language.
I do recall the interpreter in Fail Safe, did not notice who played the part, however.

As a former simultaneous interpreter for the federal government, I see nothing wrong with what she did. She apparently did a good job with the translation, and that is all that matters. She is correct, we can never interject a point of view into our official work. She she did not.
We need to pick our fights!

The snake gave me a look, like, you know, a big rattler, and said, “Boy, I mean, like, why you so upset?” “My ma screamed, “Like, wow, it learned English, no ‘oprima numero dos’.” ,...
One obvious explanation would be an Iranian jamming of GPS and perhaps radio communications. THE GPS jamming would pemit false signals towards a nearby Iranian navy vessel. Iranian rational would be a show of strength for internal consumption (since population will not notice the freeing of funds). US rational is communication security.
I see this as interesting because it may be the beginning of the much needed internal reform. Al-Azhar is perhaps the most important center of Sunni religious instruction, so its pronouncements carry great weight. For all those who have been waiting for a sign of central movement in Islam, this may be it, or the beginning of it.
Again, I only translated the Italian translation of it, I do now know Arabic.
