I know someone, big lib, union member, whose college-aged, adult son was in a terrible accident, leaving him paralyzed from the neck down. Some of this man’s lib friends were all rejoicing Obama’s win, especially for the benefits of the care his son would recieve with the new “healthcare”. I’m thinking those that are physically limited, such as his son, will be the first to be denied any type of extraordinary care, but as a union member (and a powerful one in this state) can he expect more than what the rest of us non-union working stiffs might get?
My liberal, Obama-voting relatives said exactly that; they voted for him to be “part of history”. Not sure where they stand on him now, I don’t talk to them much.
She found the lump herself at age thirty, while pregnant. The new recommendations are now telling us that self-exams are not necessary. If she’d heeded that advice, she’d have died earlier, and before giving life to two more children.
I’ve been angry about these new recommendations for the past several days..now I’m hoppin’ mad...I’m planning on calling my “reps” and ripping ‘em new ones (politely, of course).
Very sad story. Very brave woman. Very timely story given the recent recommendations about self-examination of breasts and reducing the frequency of mammograms. Now we are told that we don't need pap smears as early nor as often as we thought. I lost a 16-year old friend to cervical/uterine cancer in the 70s.
Michigan requires .5 credit in Civics/Government for HS graduation. Additionally, they require .5 credit in economics...this was not required when I graduated in the mid-’70s.
