Peltek, 41, said he attacked his 4-year-old daughter because she had been “sullied” by a gynecological exam.

”I was concerned that my family’s honor was taken,” he allegedly told investigators.

Peltek allegedly made the remarks 14 hours after the attack to Monroe County sheriff’s investigators at Strong Memorial Hospital, where he was treated for self-inflicted stab wounds to his abdomen and hammer wounds to his head.

The theme of Friday’s rally and march was that the billions of dollars spent on the war could be put to better use by funding health care.

“We pay more for health care in this country than any country in the world, and we have the worst results,” said Bill McCoy, 65, of Rochester, a member of Interfaith Healthcare Coalition. He spoke to the crowd, saying, “We want, we need, we deserve universal health care.”

Earlier this week, President Clinton issued a formal White House proclamation celebrating the first day of Kwanzaa. His announcement began with some claptrap about preserving "what we value of our past," and Kwanzaa being a "wonderful example" with its "focus on the values that have sustained African-Americans through the centuries." Except for the small historical detail that Kwanzaa was invented in 1966 amidst the madness of the multicultural '60s by a black radical stooge of the FBI, Ron Karenga, a.k.a. Dr. Maulana Karenga. Karenga was a founder of United Slaves, a violent nationalist rival to the Black Panthers and a...

Anybody have a link to the full text of Undersecretary of Defense for Policy Douglas J. Feith's memo to Senators Pat Roberts and Jay Rockefeller, the one written about in the "Weekly Standard" and ignored by the "corporate controlled right wing media"? ;)

On the face of it, Friday morning's crop of headlines looks pretty good for Saddam Hussein. If he could read them from his current residence, likely to be a sewer in Tikrit, he might think that he has again conned much of the American media with the same ease that he mislead Hans Blix. He would be thrilled to read that many have decided that the U.S. arms investigator, David Kay, who heads up the Iraq Survey Group, has drawn a blank in his search for Iraq's Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD)...

In December of last year, prior to Iced Earth signing a new record deal, Jon and I had a sit-down concerning what I felt was best for my future and the future of Iced Earth. I told him that my heart was no longer into performing music and I intended to stand down from my position in the band in pursuit of what I felt would be a more satisfying career and consequently a more fulfilled life. Jon was very adamant that I should not leave the band, and asked me not to do something that I might live to...

As those of you who read my thread last night know, I narrowly escape great harm at the hand of a fatherless gang banger last night. Thank you for all who offered info and advice on becoming a firearm owner. I'd like to augment that with some sort of martial arts or self-defense training. I'm not looking for something where you do all sorts of breathtahking flips and jump, rather something practical that will be most effective in defending myself in another situation like last night's.

Anybody catch her act on H & C? "George Bush has no economic plan ... he should be thanking Tom Daschle ... blah, blah, blah ..." As George Costanza might says, "It's not a lie, if you believe it!"

Tonight, I found myself in the wrong place at the wrong time. For a few minutes I wasn't sure if I was going to make it out alive. Essentially, I felt helpless during the entire ordeal, at the mercy of the malfeasor. I don't ever want to have to feel that way again. Which is why, after years of NRA membership, I have decided to finally purchase a handgun. I need to know the procedure from someone who has gone thru it in New York State. Also, can one get a concealed carry permit here (I seriously doubt it)? Can ...
