  • "Martyrdom" Not a Likely Factor in John Paul II's Cause (Cardinal Clarifies Canon Law)

Though some may disagree with his policies on ecumenism, this humble servant of God did his best to follow his beliefs and lead the church home to their Lord and Savior.

I'm not a big fan of Vatican II, but I have no doubt that Pope John Paul II was nothing other than a devout, faithful servant of the Lord. His love of our Lady has always made my heart smile and I have no doubt he is with her in God's kingdom.

I've never, ever blamed him for the errors in the church as what is meant to be is meant to be and was out of his hands.

    Ecclesiastes 3:3

1 All things have their season, and in their times all things pass under heaven.

2 A time to be born and a time to die. A time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted.

3 A time to kill, and a time to heal. A time to destroy, and a time to build.

4 A time to weep, and a time to laugh. A time to mourn, and a time to dance.

5 A time to scatter stones, and a time to gather. A time to embrace, and a time to be far from embraces.

6 A time to get, and a time to lose. A time to keep, and a time to cast away.

7 A time to rend, and a time to sew. A time to keep silence, and a time to speak.

8 A time of love, and a time of hatred. A time of war, and a time of peace.

9 What hath man more of his labour?

10 I have seen the trouble, which God hath given the sons of men to be exercised in it.

I'm grateful that we had him to lead the church during these troubled times. Thank you LORD!

Gobucks, thanks for Thistlethwaite's review of the Passion. It confirms my first impressions of her today.

Roberts will be a wonderful role model to counter the false preachers and judges. Thank God for President Bush. I pray his next pick will be another devout Christian who worships the true God and will guide our Nation back to the Lord's good grace.

OHA has spent $780,000 in taxpayer dollars hiring top Washington lobbyists. Benjamin Ginsberg, a former Bush-Cheney 2004 lawyer, is lobbying Senate Republicans and the White House for OHA.

Ah...the lobbyists again! Well, they did break up the USSR into smaller states to try and control. The United States, as a democracy, should be a piece of cake to destroy as a whole.

John the Baptist reminds me of why I put little faith in Vatican 2.

Prior to the birth of my second child I was busy fighting with priests/bishops in several states regarding the blessed sacrament of Baptism. The church required a fee and participation in a mandatory class in order to get my child baptized. I fought this abomination at every level that I could as it was dead wrong.

My premature, un-bapatized daughter was less than a month old and with company present I stood up out of the blue, cut off conversation as God called me to attend to my dying daughter - his angel. I calmly called my husband to attend to her while I went to the phone to call 911. My company was in hysterics as they were yelling that she was blue and cold regardless of my husband's attempts to breathe life back into her.

It took 11 rings for a 911 operator to pick up but the only thing on my mind was that the church refused to baptize this blessed being. Little time but a long conversation with God. She was diagnosed with SIDS and failure to thrive but not a scar as she is a miracle in which God interceded because the church failed and he knew me because I knew him.

22 years later, others speak of her good soul, and I faintly smile knowing that she is not mine but God's angel.

I don't have the answers to why God allowed 4 decades of hell on earth but I do know he is back with a vengeance and the church is correcting its errors. Pray the Rosary!!! She never misguides us!

Perhaps some would like to think stolen property is no longer stolen property if it passes through enough hands and/or outlasts some statute of limitations. Or, maybe it's because these coins are rare and therefore worth a lot. Maybe it's because they originally belonged to the (evil) government.

    March 29, 1944

Secret Service interview Ira Reed and James Mcallister in which Mcallister stated he bought 5 coins from Israel Switt (Gold dealer with history of violations of 1934 Gold Reserve Act)

    March 30, 1944

Secret Service interview Israel Switt who admitted a one time possession of 9 - 1933 Double Eagles. 5 sold to Mccallister, 2 to Ira Reed and 2 to Abe Kosoff. Switt professed no recollection of his source for the coins but admitted to being a frequent visitor of the Philadelphia Mint.

The Douay-Rheims Bible is a scrupulously faithful translation into English of the Latin Vulgate Bible which St. Jerome (342-420) translated into Latin from the original languages. The Vulgate quickly became the Bible universally used in the Latin Rite (by far the largest rite of the Catholic Church).

St. Jerome, who was one of the four great Western Fathers of the Church, was a man raised up by God to translate the Holy Bible into the common Latin tongue of his day. He knew Latin and Greek perfectly. He was 1500 years closer to the original languages than any scholar today, which would make him a better judge of the exact meaning of any Greek or Hebrew word in the Scriptures. Besides being a towering linguistic genius, he was also a great saint, and he had access to ancient Hebrew and Greek manuscripts of the 2nd and 3rd centuries which have since perished and are no longer available to scholars today. St. Jerome's translation, moreover, was a careful, word-for-word rendering of the original texts into Latin.

The Latin Vulgate Bible has been read and honored by the Western Church for 1500 years! It was declared by the Council of Trent to be the official Latin version of the original. Hear what the Sacred Council decreed: "Moreover, the same Holy Council ... ordains and declares that the old Latin Vulgate Edition, which, in use for so many hundred years, has been approved by the Church, be in public lectures, disputatious, sermons and expositions held as authentic, and so no one dare or presume under any pretext whatsoever to reject it." (Fourth Session, April 8, 1546). As Pope Pius XII stated in his 1943 encyclical letter Divino Afflante Spiritu, this means the Vulgate is "free from any error whatsoever in matters of faith and morals." And the Douay-Rheims bible is a faithful, word-for-word translation of the Latin Vulgate Bible of St. Jerome.

In their translation, the Douay-Rheims translators took great pains to translate exactly. Contrary to the procedure of the modern Bible translators, when a passage seemed strange and unintelligible they left it alone, even if obscure, and "let the chips fall as they may." The modern Bible translators, on the other hand, will often look at an obscure passage, decide what they think it means, then translate into words that bring out that meaning. The result is that the English is usually (not always!) easier to understand, but it is not necessarily what the Bible says; rather, it is their interpretation and understanding of what the Bible says. Moreover, the Holy Ghost may have hidden several additional meanings in the passage. Those meanings may well be completely translated out!

The msm obviously wants to associate this with Delay because Abramoff was a Republican and Scanlon worked for Delay and so that's really no surprise. We are well aware that Abramoff was using the Dem's for his casino scams as well as using the Indians whom he labled "morons and monkeys." I feel confident that Delay/Ney will be cleared of any wrong doing.

If the FBI, DOJ, IRS and the Interior Department's inspector general have been reviewing Abramoff for the past year, took his passport and limited his travel, then I suspect he is going down big time. Perhaps if he is convicted this will send a message to all politicians and lobbyists that you are being put on notice.

    Hello NYer

Morgentaler seems to be a man on a mission.

Morgentaler, who enjoys the Jewish culture, is a self-proclaimed secular humanist. He’s a Holocaust survivor, and “he was also quite a womanizer,” which many people might not know. Knowing he would be incriminated for his actions, he willingly put his freedom at risk and was jailed for his commitment to his cause; he suffered a heart attack while in prison.

Morgentaler is best known as the pro-choice activist who defied the Quebec government by turning his Montreal family practice into a family planning clinic that also conducted abortions. In 1973, he performed an abortion which aired on the CTV current affairs program W5. After the show aired on Mother’s Day of that year, his clinic was raided and he was brought to trial. Although the jury acquitted him, the Quebec Court of Appeal, in an unprecedented move, reversed the verdict, and Morgentaler was sent to jail for 18 months.
