Note that the AP article refers to Global Warming as an accomplished fact and points at CO2 levels in the atmosphere as the cause.
Studies in the eighties,(sorry I can't quote directly), on ice core samples of the Greenland ice sheet, showed that CO2 had,in fact, increased by 350% since the mid-nineteenth century, co-inciding with the onset of widespread petroleum production and usage. IF CO2 was such a factor in GW, then doesn't it stand to reason that the earth would have already become too hot for anything to survive?
We should all question the computer models that (reortedly),prove that the Earth will go through drastic climate change, caused by high levels of CO2.
After all, computer models can hardly tell the weather next week! And they are wrong a large percentage of the time!
Kyoto is only about halting industrialization, without which, 90% or more of the human race couldn't survive.

Thanks for the ping.As a newbie to FR, I really appreciate the access to reports of this kind of abuse. As a Coloradan, I will keep my eyes open for similar events, because the Eco-Whackos here are always up to something.

IMHO, this story tells me that there should be a severe limit on any State (or Federal) acquisition of land for any reason whatsoever. Land should be private property, and whoever owns it should have the right of private property, that is, to say, the right to exploit or dispose of it in whatever way they choose.

I've said it before...Environmentalists don't care about equality in the socialist form.They simply see that socialist policies help them accomplish their true goal.
Which is: Creating an environment in which human life is impossible.
Humans make life possible by changing their environments to fit themselves,not vice-versa.
The enviro-nuts believe that nature is an "intrinsic" value, which ignores the question,"Of value...to whom?"
"Value", is that which makes life possible, enriched, and fulfilling.
Exploiting resources is the way that humans live, enrich, and fulfill their lives.
This is what environmentalists want to put an end to.
Your Fulfillment.
Your Enrichment.
Your Life.

The concept of "renewable sources" is nothing but smoke blowing...you know where. All energy sources need new components as equipment wears out,including solar photoelectric cells and windmills.Are these components "renewable"?
Recycling actually costs more than primary production,in time,money AND energy.
So in the name of "Conservation",we are encouraged to use more resources,faster than ever.

Part of the problem we have is that the US Supreme Court has been "interpreting" far too long...their job is to UPHOLD the constitution,not tell us what the founders "really" meant.

This touches on the truth.The real motivation of enviro-nuts is a vitriolic hatred of Man.They would stop at nothing to see government become worse than Nazi Germany,Soviet Russia,PRC,complete with death camps for the masses.To the envirnmental movement,the only evil in the world is the presence of Mankind.

Point taken. I agree that government spending on massive highway projects is wrong. But the fact that highway construction should be privately funded by privately owned companies shouldn't overshadow an intellectual achievement of this magnitude.As I am unaware of the specific economic and political pressures that were in play in France to spur the construction of this particular edifice,I only comment on the achievement itself.

This project shows just how incredible the possibilities of the human mind are.Never mind the French bashing,(of which I have also been guilty),this bridge is an amazing feat of engineering genius.We should applaud the designers, wherever they are from.
