I'm going to do something radical and disagree with these statements outright.

Please, if this is your radical disagreement, then please, continue to be radical and disagree. If all in this forum could disagree in Christ the way you just did, there would be no need for these cauci (the plural).

Anyway, thank you for your prayerful thoughts. As to the Baptist Ping list, I believe that WKB owns that so please contact him. LS

Thank you all for your sincere and prayerful responses to the post. Regarding our continuation of sin, the Holy Spirit leads me to Romans 12: 1-2,

Romans 12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
Roman 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

I heard a sermon by Dr. Charles Stanley when he said that when he got saved, he still did every thing that he wanted to do. The difference was, his "want to's". I think that's the point. We no longer "want to" sin. Not to say that we don't or won't, we just are conscience to them and don't "want to".

Also, one of the earlier responses was a very good example of unconditional election. I'll have to consider posting a study on that.

    Thank you all again.

Christ paid the cost 2,000 years ago for my health and abundance today.

Can you show Scripturally your evidence for this statement? I thought that Christ died for the sins of mankind.
    1Corithians 15:3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures;
Not that we could have "...health and abundance...".
Luke 12:15 And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man's life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.

You can choose to live a life of lack and disease if you wish but NOT me. I have experienced His touch in my health and in my finances and will never go back to the bad old days.
I too have experienced His "touch" and can never go back to the "bad old days". Not because of who I am or what I've done, but because of who He is and what He's done. Not necessarilly to my heath and finances, (even though I can complain of neither) but His touch to my soul. I was transformed from my own righteousness...

Isaiah 64:6 But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.

    ...to His righteousness...

Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

I believe that it's clear that we aren't to focus on and be conformed to the things of this world.

Say what you want but I am living proof that this life is for today not because I deserve it but because Christ paid the price and I am claiming those promises and seeking the Father daily and walking in His Word.

This life is for today? We "deserve" hell. And only by the saving grace of a Living God and the blood sacrifice of His Son Jesus Christ will we not spend an eternity there.
If you want your "best life today" then go hear a motivational speech in Houston. But if you want life eternal with the lover of your soul, believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and be saved.

John 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

Please keep your comments to Today’s Word.

    Very well...
Matthew Henry say this about verse 7...

"Persons sometimes will give merely to satisfy the importunity of those who ask their charity, and what they give is in a manner squeezed or forced from them, and this unwillingness spoils all they do."

In other words, don't give because someone makes you feel guilty and you just want to make them leave you alone. We should be convicted by the Holy Spirit to give and be charitable to others.
I believe the most important gift that we can give to others is the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the sacrifice that He made on the cross for the redemption of our sins.

Jesus Himself tells us, "Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon the earth, where moth and rust consume, and where thieves break through and steal: but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth consume, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:" Matthew 6:19-20

We don't have to "do" any thing for God's blessings and provisions. He has already blessed us with the perfect gift of His son and His sacrifice on the cross. Jesus told us that He is the bread of life, that He is our provisions, and that His Kingdom is what we should seek, not riches or treasures on this earth...

Matthew 6:31-33 "Be not therefore anxious, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? For after all these things do the Gentiles seek; for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye first his kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you."
Joh 6:48 I am that bread of life. 49 Your fathers did eat manna in the wilderness, and are dead. 50 This is the bread which cometh down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof, and not die. 51 I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live forever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.

I tried my best to stay with "today's word", but His Word is so much more that just one verse taken out of context and twisted to make it say what man wants it to say.

In Jesus' name, study the Word of God in context and test ALL teachings with Scripture. LS
