She actually has potential. She apparently doesn't feel comfortable looking too girly.

    >>Personally, the only movie I've seen this year is Batman and Transporter II. <<

So did you see this interview with the director of Transporter II:

In an interview with the Los Angeles Times recently, Transporter 2 director Louis Leterrier revealed that he was desperate to keep his American directorial debut from turning into "a Steven Seagal kind of movie — very formulaic and predigested." So he did the obvious: threw in a gay subtext.

No, really. Though Leterrier made no changes to mentor Luc Besson's script, he swears that his main character (Frank Martin, played be the lovely Jason Statham) is "the first gay action hero. To the director, not only does this wrinkle make watching the movie much more fun, but it also serves as a cheeky sort of taunt to film's audience. "Action fans in general are pretty homophobic...If they only knew they're really cheering for a new kind of action hero."

No mystery. I found this picture in 10 seconds with Google. This picture was taken 3 days after the attack.

It must be a new craze: Teenagers who Embarrass their Politician Fathers

    The story so far:

    George Bush:
The Bush Twins- underage drinking cited multiple times while father was president.

    Jeb Bush:
Son (not George P.) caught by a security guard at a mall having sex in a car with some girl; daughter arrested for *serious* drug problems.

    Al Gore:
Son arrested by police for speeding, embarrassing his father who was running for president at the time.

    Bill Frist:
Teenage son recently arrested for drunken driving.

    Howard Dean:
Teenage son arrested for his part in robbing a country club for alcohol, embarrassing his father while running for president.

Teenagers are scary people, with minds and hormones of their own. But kids can make mistakes like those above, and still turn out just fine, although Jeb Bush’s daughter really seems to be in a difficult situation.

“I think Turner has called Christians "Jesus Freaks" and said religious people are just weak minded.”

His feelings about religion appear to be a little bit more complicated than just simple, run-of-the-mill Christian-bashing. Here’s an expert from an article that appeared recently in “The National Review Online”:

“Turner really was a deeply religious boy, despite his father's emotional abuse. He intended at one point to become a missionary. Then, when he was a teenager, his younger sister Mary Jane contracted a form of lupus, and suffered terribly before dying a relatively short while later. All his prayers for her recovery — an hour a day, he said — were for naught.

“’She used to run around in pain, begging God to let her die,’ he recalled. ´My family broke apart. I thought, 'How could God let my sister suffer so much?'

“These events happened nearly half a century ago, but he speaks of them as if they had occurred last week….”

“This means if you are functioning perfectly well with older, proven software, there is no reason to go to the new software until it is proven.”

Very true. But the Internet has changed everything. Any business that has their company network connected to the Internet may be forced to upgrade even older software for security flaws that no one ever dreamed about. At work, we can’t live without our perpetual connection to the Internet, but it changes the old upgrade adage, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” Now everything has a potential security flaw that could jeopardize the internal network. Even if it ain’t broke today, it could be broken tomorrow when some enterprising hacker figures out a way to exploit a previously unknown flaw.

But thanks, Microsoft, for blaming customers for not upgrading. Weekly upgrades of the operating system scare a lot of IT departments because you never know for sure how it’s going to affect the other software on your system. (i.e., we upgraded one server to Service Pack 3, and then the terminal server wouldn’t allow anyone to connect, so we had to uninstall the service pack.)

So you take risks when you upgrade for security patches, and you probably take even more risks when you don’t. It’s not very pretty in IT land.

“They also robbed us of the wonderful word "gay" though there is nothing "gay" about that perverse lifestyle…. How can we ever get that back?”

By taking a stand and fighting to get it back! By proclaiming everywhere you go, “I’m gay, I tell you, GAY! No, no, not that kind of gay. The HAPPY kind!”

Sure, initially it’s going to create confusion, and sure, you’ll get beat up in biker bars a lot. But after a lifetime of faithfully pursing this struggle (and after a few black eyes), you just might regain ownership of “gay” again.

Or you could just wait until homosexuals tire of the word “gay” and adopt something like “fabu” instead.
  • A MOTHERS THOUGHTS on an HIV MUPPET

This is a snippet of the Yahoo story on the HIV Muppet:

“The Muppet character will join the cast of the children's show [in South Africa] in September to help educate children about AIDS at the urging of the South African government.

Some 4.7 million South Africans — one in nine — are HIV positive, more people than in any other country in the world.

There are no plans to incorporate an HIV-positive Muppet in the American or other versions of the show, said representatives of Sesame Workshop, its New York-based production company.”

It doesn’t appear that the lovable HIV Muppet will appear on the American TV version, so you shouldn't have to protect your children from it, or explain this very difficult issue to them.

But I was thinking that maybe this Muppet was the least or your problems. How do you explain away the deaths of two (possibly) beloved uncles to them without dealing with this issue eventually? Weren’t the uncles more lovable and real (and thus more dangerous to your children’s innocence about this subject) than any puppet that Sesame Street could ever create?

I totally understand wanting to protect them from subject matter on television that might make give them the wrong message or make you uncomfortable. But how do you shield them from the tragic HIV realities of your own family?

I watched England vs. Argentina on ABC on Saturday afternoon, and it was pretty exciting. The first time I’ve ever watched soccer match all the way through. David Beckham rules!

And as for people who say soccer = boring, please remember that watching paint dry = golfing. Tiger Woods is tremendously talented, but just have him play the game, then report the scores back to us. Don’t make us watch.

I can't figure out why if golf is an American obsession that soccer can't also be one.

“If you read the Bible - from start to finish, you will realize it is a narrative. The ending explains the beginning. Therefore, not every quote is relevant today.”

You’re right, only the parts in Leviticus condemning homosexuality apply today. I think the applicable principle is: “The sin I am incapable of committing is the greatest sin.” Amen.

Straight Pride is a nice idea, but I have a problem with the design of the Straight Pride flag. It looks like they took the male and female icons off of a public restroom door and pasted it on an American flag. This is a case where they could have used a little design help from homosexuals. I’m just saying……

Bauman was not just a Republican. Robert Bauman was an anti-gay Republican State Senator from Maryland who was arrested in 1980 for soliciting homosexual sex. He was still alive as of 1998. (Thank you, Google Search.)

True conservatives will forever hate Bauman because he reinforced the untrue stereotype that the biggest ‘phobes are the ones desperate for hot, gay sex. Nothing could be further from the truth. (Except on the rare occasion when it’s true.)
