Canadians too patriotic for sensitive Americans Focus groups in U.S. reveal growing rift Jack Aubry CanWest News Service Canadians should be careful not to appear "boastful" to Americans, who are insecure because of the war in Iraq and admit they are annoyed by northerners showing off the red maple leaf on their luggage when they travel, a recent federal report warns. In focus groups held this fall in four U.S. cities where the federal government is opening consulates, Americans acknowledged they don't know much about Canadians and have low awareness that the country had not supported the U.S. in the...

This isn't news, but a question I would like to pose to those educated on the Iraq situation. Are the human shields, anti-war protesters, Germany, France etc. in a sense collaborating with Iraq? I wanted to ask, because obviously they are not collaborating with the Allies. I'm hoping someone will have a more educated opinion/analysis on this point if anyone would like to offer. If we do go to war, this act is extremely serious.

Type 1 Diabetes Marker Found Jan. 21, 2003 Provided by: Canadian Press Written by: HELEN BRANSWELL TORONTO (CP) - In the not-too-distant future, all five-year-olds may be given a simple and cheap blood test to see if they are at risk of developing Type 1 diabetes. Those who test positive would be given a shot - a vaccine that would avert the onset of diabetes. That scenario has moved from the realm of the ideal to the possible with the discovery, by a group of Toronto scientists, of a process that occurs before diabetes sets in. That process, which can...

Santa's Secret Author Unknown On Christmas Eve, a young boy with light in his eyes, looked deep into Santa's eyes, to Santa's surprise. He said as he nestled on Santa's broad knee, "I want your secret Santa, please tell it to me." He leaned up and whispered in Santa's good ear, "How do you do it, year after year?" "I want to know how, as you travel about, giving gifts here and there, why you never run out? How is it, dear Santa, that in your pack of toys, you have plenty for all of the world's girls and boys?...

Report blames U.S. pilots By JOHN WARD-- Canadian Press OTTAWA (CP) -- Two American fighter pilots were "the direct cause" of a bombing tragedy that killed four Canadian soldiers in Afghanistan in April, say Canadian and U.S. reports released Friday. "Canadian troops conducting the live-fire exercise followed all appropriate procedures and regulations," Defence Minister John McCallum told a news conference. Investigators also determined that "the two American pilots contravened established procedures and were the direct cause of the incident." Two U.S. fighter planes were returning to base after what was described as a long patrol in the wee hours of...
  • When is the government going to take SERIOUS action to stop this sort of behaviour in our society?

What can we do to rid the country of freaks like this kidnapper? How long can we go on as a society with the current laws? Criminals in this country are protected by the law - what about law abiding citizens - what about innocent people? What action can we take - what do we have to resort to?
