"OK. Do we need to explore again who are these people that are guaranteed a right to life liberty and the pursuit of happiness? We did it before by correcting the slavery horror so do we start with that as a model?"

Nope, we just need to see what things are, for what they are and not what we want them to be, to include what others want us to see it as. :-) What separates us from animals is the ability to reason, we all need to exercise this ability and strengthen it. If we do not, we end up with abortion, slavery, Terri, etc..... Bottom line is we lose the ability to reason the value of life. Unfortunately in our society the trend towards devaluing life is self evident.

"Right To Kill---we should focus on that. Who has that right? How did they get it? How do we change that?"

Good question! In The United Sates all laws are supposed to be based on The Constitution, but we all know that they are not and no one in the government is held accountable to their oath to it. It is no more than a piece of furniture to collect dust and is an obstacle that our beloved government would love to change or discard. They use it to their self serving means or ignore it when it serves their purpose. Perhaps we should have a ten year old (sarcasm) review our laws and determine what is constitutional and what is not. The Constitution is simple and to the point and says what it says. It does not say what we would like it to say or what others want it to say, it just says what it says. I often wonder if our fore fathers should have written it in Latin, a dead language, so that its meaning could not be twisted and perverted. However there is hope! We the people have the power to elect statesmen and not politicians, who will defend The Constitution and pass laws or overturn laws, according to The Constitution. So in short to your inquiry, it's we the people on all points of the question.

Yes I agree. It was hopefully just a poorly written statement.

Thank you for your opinion, but I think that we all and of course myself included, miss the point of what is happening or how dangerous a situation really can be, to all Americans.
Basically the judge ordered the death of an American Citizen for one reason only. He deemed her life not worthy to live in our society. Further, he included in his order to not feed her by mouth? It does not take a neuro surgeon to realize that Judge Greer openly admits that Terri is awake and aware and not in PVS. One must be awake and aware to accept food by mouth and someone who wants to die would refuse the act of feeding. Even though a swallow test was not allowed, Judge Greer must have believed that she could swallow food or there is no logical reason to include that in his order. Someone in PVS cannot be fed by mouth, because they are not conscious or aware.
To say that President Bush could not act to save Terri's life, because of the Constitution does not ring true. It is his sworn duty to protect every American Citizen from crimes against them. He is the highest law official in the country. If he truly believed that what was happening to Terri was wrong, it is his duty to act and prevent it and we all know he and the governor failed to do so. As much as I would like to believe that he could not act to save an innocent woman from an incredibly cruel death, my intellect tells me differently, because it flies in the face of reason.
This case can and most likely will be used as precedence to decide other cases, on the quality of life. It really is no different than Roe vs. Wade. One court decision based on the ending of one human life. The result is 30 million abortions. Roe vs. Wade is not law, but a court decision about one case. Now the "law" allows that abortion may be done up to normal delivery. All because our politicians failed to act.
Failure to act, to prevent, to protect and to serve is the easiest way in our political system for not taking responsibility of a crime against God, against nature, against the Constitution and finally against humanity. When history is written, as is the case during and before Hitler’s reign of power, failure to act is a crime. The circumstances of Terri's case are too similar to ignore.

"I disagree. I will in no way accept any "responsibility" for her death. Universal blame for this is codswallop IMHO."

Perhaps you missed the point. What I was trying to say is the following: As a nation we vote for people and continue to vote for people, who continue to do exactly the opposite of what they say. You know, like voting for politicians who make claims to follow the Constitution, to protect the Constitution and at every turn destroys or disregards it, and further when an innocent woman is publicly being tortured and murdered, they claim the law prevents them from doing anything. Did we not elect these same people? Do we not share as a nation in this shameful act, because we continue to vote into office these people over and over?

P.S. What the heck is "codswallop" anyways?

Actually it started before the Nazis by an “enlightened” progressive secular humanist government. So you’re right to keep mentioning the Nazis in comparison to what happened here is not right, they just used what was already law to do what they did.

"The time will come for the men responsible for this to answer for their behavior, but not today." Tom Delay.

Someone pinch me, I'm having a bad dream and can't wake up! In my dream, an innocent handicapped woman was sentenced to death by starvation, as each day passed the men with the power to save her all said they would do something tomorrow, but tomorrow never came. For 13 days this woman suffered publicly, while her family pleaded for her life, for the government to spare her from this cruel death sentence. Their cries went on deaf ears and others just simply turned their back and said there is nothing more I can do, it's the law and we can't go against the law.
The whole world watched day by day, as this innocent woman who had been locked in a room, without so much as having her teeth cleaned for 5 years, was cruelly being starved to death, per order of The United States of America. This order came not from her husband or his lawyer, but from the government itself. In one fell swoop, the government now decides who lives or dies, innocent or guilty no longer matters. The government now decides who is worthy of life and who is not.
"The time will come for the men responsible for this to answer for their behavior, but not today." or tomorrow or the next. It will never come, at least on this earth, because just in recent history those responsible for the most heinous crimes against the public have not been held accountable, but lauded as heroes and promoted to higher positions within our own government. We all know it and yet as a public, we still vote into office these same self serving men and woman. Have we not learned to judge a man by his actions or lack of actions, rather than what he says. Just as President Bush said after the death of this innocent woman, "the strong have a duty to protect the weak" almost made me vomit! He, the most powerful man on the face of the earth, did nothing to stop this public execution. I am no longer blinded by his words and see him for the first time, for what he is. May God have mercy on us all, because we all bear a responsibity to this woman’s death.

"Colmes tried to interrupt Dobson saying this is the Fox poll... Dobsob said whatever they are all using misinformation and he kept on reading."

I saw the show and agree. The people of decency (conservatives) show too much respect to these death lovers and anyone who opposes them on these type of talk shows. Most will stop in mid point to answer another off topic question. Pat Buchanon struggled the other night with Cathrine Crier, couldn't get his point across because she wouldn't stop talking and changing the topic. I love Pat, but he was showing too much respect to her and allowed her to go on and on. All these talk show hosts/guests should review Dr. Dobson's interview and take it as a lesson on how to start handling these freaks in our society. Randel Terry did the same thing with Colmes and basically Colmes was at a loss and could not function, he actually looked like a lost child who was all alone. I thought I heard him say "Mommy, Mommy" lol.

Good question. All thru this case, many say that it is the law that Judge Greer has followed and that is why he ruled the way he did, of course backed up by federal courts. But the question does arise on the subject of adultery and the law. First we must examine what adultery is and secondly it begs the question of, who is adultery committed against, the state or an individual? I believe that adultery is a crime against an individual and in this case against Terri. Therefore, it is reasonable to deduct that when a crime is committed against an individual, the criminal cannot be the gaurdian of the victim.

Can anyone spell M-U-R-D-E-R! I blame them all, Republican, Democrat and judges. To think that the highest elected officials of the State of Florida and the United States, cannot act lawfully to save this womans life is absolutely ridiculous. For failing to act, to include not sending armed forces to protect an innocent person from a 13 day so far, public execution by cruel and unusual punishment is an act of cowardness. This healthy handicapped woman is openly being starved to death by the government. We have all heard that you cannot do this to a rat. What would happen if someone did this to an animal like a dog and had armed gaurds stopping anyone from intervening. The government would send an overwhelming force to stop it. We all know this is true.
Our elected officials ordered, not asked our troops to fight to the death for their cause. Our military does not have a cause, they follow orders. These same politicians say they are powerless to stop an American from being starved to death, on our own soil. What are we doing in Iraq! Is this what we are bringing to the Iraqi People and the world? This whole scenario has the smell of being preplanned. This must be the governments true answer to social security. What will history say of this cowardess act, by our elected officials? Will Nazism be replaced by Americanism?
