"How a digital trailblazer and progressive powerhouse lost its way. Dozens of Salon alumni have, over the past several months, posted their favorite stories from and memories of the once-beloved liberal news site described as a “left-coast, interactive version of The New Yorker,” a progressive powerhouse that over the years has covered politics with a refreshing aggressiveness, in a context that left plenty of room for provocative personal...

My wife was the closest pregnant civilian to TMI in Middletown PA when the event started she has a unique perspective on TMI, nuclear emergencies, Japan, and near melt downs. Yet at this time she still does not see nuclear power as a bad thing!

Let me tell you the real reason Barack Obama, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid pushed through the biggest spending bill in history – without proper debate, without Republican input, and without any public scrutiny at all. Simply, they are trying to turn the United States into a one-party country and to put the Republican Party out of business once and for all. The massive appropriation called a stimulus – some $787 billion of your money – is really a political war chest for the Democrats. They want to change the face of American politics forever, and they want to use...

I believe the voting an voter registration frauds attempts are deliberate and we will see more.. The I believe the voting an voter registration frauds attempts are deliberate and we will see more.. The Democrats are doing it knowing they have a great chance of getting away with it. I think they are actually HOPING some fraud attempts are uncovered because it works for them... Heck this is at least 4 years in the making... what we can expect to be found is a tip of the iceberg. They have been working at it and are far ahead of the...

We have all been concerned with how to make the Dan Rather/CBS thing stick and get more public attention. There has been many recomendations to call the advertisers of our local stations or to contact CBS directly. My recommendation is to get all the affiliates to carry the ball for us. Us FCC rules to force them to take action and do the investigating for us... or force CBS to come clean. Below is a sample partially taken from a post in this thread http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1217172/posts by OneLoyalAmerican I don't write as well as many others but the text of the...

The germ of dissolution of our federal government is in the constituion of the federal judiciary; an irresponsible body, (for impeachment is scarcely a scare-crow) working like gravity by night and by day, gaining a little today and a little tomorrow, and advancing its noiseless step like a thief, over the field of jurisdiction, until all shall be usurped from the States, and the government of all be consolidated into one."

"If a pertinacious minority can control the opinion of a majority...the majority...must conform to the views of the minority.... Hence, tedious delays; continual negotiation and intrigue; contemptible compromises of he public good." --

The Federalist Patriot Founders Quote Daily "[T]he States can best govern our home concerns and the general government our foreign ones. I wish, therefore...NEVER to see all offices transferred to Washington, where, further withdrawn from the eyes of the people, they may more secretly be bought and sold at market." --Thomas Jefferson

TEHRAN, Iran — In a reversal, Iran left open the possibility Thursday it may have top Al Qaeda (search) operatives in custody, including the terror network security chief suspected by U.S. officials of planning attacks in Saudi Arabia (search). Foreign Ministry spokesman Hamid Reza Asefi's comments to The Associated Press contradicted his statement Monday, when he was quoted as telling state-run radio that Al Qaeda members detained in Iran (search) "are not senior members of the group." Holding another person as a slave; an owned human being as unpaid, or minimally paid labor is, and was wrong. It is reprehensible and sad that it ever happened but it was legal. Eventually it was outlawed by the citizens of the country as it should have been. But it was legal at the time. I am having problems understanding some of the claims that have swirled around this for so long. They just do not make sense. The slaves were not bought as items of play nor persons to be cruely tortured arbitrarily. I do not want to sound...
