Why We Defend and Protect Ronald Reagan "And I, frankly, have been stunned at the lack of full-fledged defense of all these charges by the Republican Party at large, when these attacks on Reagan have been made. In many cases, Republicans have wimped out and have not wanted to be associated with Reagan for fear that these charges will also fall on them."

Ginsburg: America Is Not Enough August 5, 2003 My friends, I have something shocking to discuss with you and I'm not just pulling that word out of the air for dramatic effect - I genuinely mean this. The Associated Press reported the following over the weekend: “The Supreme Court is looking beyond America's borders for guidance in handling cases on issues like the death penalty and gay rights, Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg said Saturday. The justices referred to the findings of foreign courts this summer in their own ruling that states may not punish gay couples for having sex. And...

Dear Rush 24/7 Member, Thanksgiving is a time of tradition. From birds on the table to football on the tube, to parades, family and friends- all these things that many of us have come to know as a constant. Well, last year one of those traditions was sadly broken. What has become Rush’s annual appearance with Tim Russert on CNBC did not occur due to Rush's hearing loss. However, this year we’re happy to tell you that the much anticipated, highly awaited tradition is back! You will be able to see Rush and Tim’s hour long sit down this weekend,...

Anyone know of a source that lists the percentage of eligible voters vs. those who actually voted, in Presidential elections since 1789? My question comes about because I read an opinion that if we had more convenient means for people to vote nowadays, that the turn-out would be greater. My first thought after reading this was that voter turn-out would've been greater in Colonial times, and probably up to the early 1900's, than it was afterwards, up to today.

AUSTRALIANS were united in outrage yesterday as they demanded the French Government respect the memory of our nation's war dead. Reacting to plans by France to build an international airport on the Somme battlefields – the site of thousands of World War I and II graves – the country threw its collective support behind an effort to stop the construction. After revealing the names of 61 Australian soldiers whose remains could be exhumed under the airport proposal, The Daily Telegraph yesterday was flooded with messages of anger and grief. Among them was the family of private Gerald Ryan, who died...

Almost immediately after the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Centre and the Pentagon #150; even in the first few hours afterwards on September 11 itself #150; people began to say that the world had changed. Of course, since September 11, we have begun to realize the scope of that change. Canadian soldiers are on the ground in Afghanistan and our sailors are in the Indian Ocean. We all face longer line-ups and tighter security at airports. Security in many public places #150; on Parliament Hill, or near the U.S. and Israeli embassies and consulates #150; has been tightened. But...

WASHINGTON, Feb. 28 — Today, Congressman Eric Cantor (R-Virginia) received recognition for his legislative efforts on behalf of the Seventh District and the American people by Americans for Tax Reform; 60 Plus, a senior advocacy group; the Small Business Survival Committee; and the American Shareholders Association. Cantor has a perfect voting record on behalf of American taxpayers, small businesses, and the more than half of Americans who invest their savings and their retirement in the stock market. Grover Norquist, President of Americans for Tax Reform, said of Cantor, "Eric Cantor has shown his true colors to the taxpayers of Virginia ...

All else aside -- the leadership contest has demonstrated that Stockwell Day is far and away the only statesman material in the running. The voluminous details are covered in the many posts and replies on Free Dominion. He has fully demonstrated that he is no mere politician. In his previous capacity as leader and during his current leadership campaign he dealt with issues and challenges forthrightly -- not stooping to the level of invective and smear so freely indulged in by those who challenged him. He responded to the points at issue -- not to the cheap-shot tactics of ...

A VERY remarkable article has appeared in this week's An Phoblacht/Republican News. The article is in Irish and, perhaps for that reason, it seems to have attracted less attention than it deserves. The article is headed Bush as Smacht - 'Bush out of control'- I shall translate the first three sentences which give an idea of the tenor of the whole piece "We already know that George W Bush is out of his mind, and that he is inclined to make difficulties worse instead of solving them. It seems likely that the Bush authority wants to keep the whole world ...
