Here in Ohio I teach a class in A.P. European History and have a colleague in A.P. U.S. History.

Neither of us has any Bush-haters. Most of our students are thoughtful and not "knee-jerk" liberals. I think you need to emigrate farther away from the "Blue" East Coast and you will see that your generalization "across the country" might not quite be accurate.

Be assure to avoid those generalizations in your essays for the A.P. U.S. History test on Friday!

Just looking at the polls: I would define those numbers right now as "real popular" until they hit closer to 60%.

I agree: the Deumbocrat alternative is terribull: Scary Kerry is no JFK!

Hitchens is a former liberal who had a political epiphany during the Clinton scandals and became more anti-left-wing after 9-11.

No genuine Christian (Protestant or Catholic) or Jew should be able to vote for Scary Kerry in good conscience. He supports everything inimical to a moral life: abortion, promotion of homosexuality, etc etc etc choose anything from the Left's agenda.

But Kerry is dangerous because he is the ultimate post-modern, most relativistic politician on-record. "I voted in favor of the 87 billion dollars for the troops before I voted against it." "Ribbons and medals were absolutely interchangeable." etc.

He seems to stand for nothing but expediency, and the few things he is positive about are appalling: that any use of the U.S. military must be wrong, that following the anti-Semitic, socialist, and patently corrupt dictates of the U.N, must be right, that Western Civilization in general is the cause of most of the world's ills rather than their solution, and that therefore the invalid complaints from Islamic or socialist/communist dictators and governments must be listened to with a bowed head and requisite shame.

But unfortunately that sums up the Left-wing of this country in a general sense, which is why I hope the "Red" part of America gets out and votes against the liberals.

Dubya Bush may not be real popular right now, and I am not happy with various things he has done, but overall one cannot support the Kerry campaign at all.

I have written before at various talk-sites that Kerry shows certain signs of Post-Traumatic Stress Syndrome, among them the inability to recall precisely what happened under stressful conditions, and the inability to decide a course of action without disputing its reality later, both qualities one would not really want to see in a President of the United States!

Could one insist that Scary Kerry get a complete psychiatric analysis from an impartial foreign doctor, say one from Iceland, since that seems to be appropriate given Scary Kerry's inexpressively botoxic face?
  • MSNBC/Slate: Why we pulled Monday's Ted Rall cartoon ('cause Rall's a wuss?)

Ted Rall was a former student of mine in the 1970's for a short time, when he lived in a suburb of Dayton. I have followed his career somewhat.

He craves attention, and is very interested in controversy for the sake of controversy, in fomenting outrage than the expression of any coherent philosophy beyond extreme knee-jerk liberalism.

He did have some excellent anti-Clinton cartoons in the '90's, where in one he had Clinton explaining why he had sacrificed humans to Ba'al, satirizing the "smoked but didn't inhale" - "Depends what 'is' means" Clinton.

To be sure, more recently he is as far left-wing weirdo doubleplusunfunny as you can get! MSNBC probably made his day by pulling the cartoon.
  • Clinton-McAuliffe Strategery: Dump Kerry in July?

I have been experimenting with GOOGLE-Advanced Search by typing in the exact phrase "Dump Kerry" during the last 5 days. On Thursday Google presented about 170 hits, but as of today, May 4th, the number of hits has gone 4,410!

Clearly there is something in the wind as people link to the phrase and chatter about it.

Check out this article on dumping Kerry and the role of the Clinton family:

    http://www.wnd.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=38242

Certainly in an era when nobody wants to admit a mistake, when they will use the most twisted, Orwellian freedom-is-slavery logic to claim they have always been consistent about everything, we do not expect the Dumbocrats to admit that Kerry is a mistake.

But given the possibility that a wing of the party could claim that they themselves never wanted Kerry, and that therefore he should be deleted from the convention, will that open up the Draft Shrillary people?

And what are the odds that Billy Jeff's book tour in the summer (Coincidence?) will be used to push Kerry's nomination, rather than to push Kerry out of the news?
