So what if Ron Paul is not for burning any book. Are we in Nazi Germany??? And beside, don’t you remember the massive outrage when they draw the Mohammad cartoons ? Now imagine their reaction if we burn their holy book. Pissing off 25 % of the world population doesn’t seem constructive to me. And
Petraeus, said this act would put the troops in greater danger. Just for that, the pastor shouldn’t do it period.

Ok I’ll try to defend Ron Paul here.
What’s wrong with his stance of going to war only when it’s declared by congress? That way, you know who the enemy is, and you go to war to win it the quickest possible and with full determination. Right now we’re asking the military to play nice social engineers, and police the street trying to westernize a country made of thousand tribal. The result is a war that is dragging on and that doesn’t end. There is only 100 alquada there. What the hell, we lost this month alone 100 nato soldiers. Do you think it worth it? Even if we can eradicate this small numbers, they’ll move elsewhere, into pakistan, or yemen or somalia. You cannot win against a tactic like terrorism. What would we do? Invade every country that has 100 terrorists in it? Good luck with that.

The thing you seem to miss is that Ron Paul isn’t against earmarks. He’s all for it. Why? Because its the only way to know where the money is spent. In another word, transparency.
And even if he didn’t put earmarks, the federal budget would not be decreased of one dime. That’s why he votes against the appropriation of money in the first place. Earmarks or not, doesn’t change anything, plus it represents a grant total of 1% of the budget.
