Romney's problems may be exacerbated by the Boston Globe, but they arise in the first instance from his actual positions over the years. The man voted for Paul Tsongas in 1992. He was for abortion rights before he was against them. And he boasted that he'd be a better advocate for gay rights than Ted Kennedy. Hugh can't deny these facts, or blame them on liberal media bias. Romney's having trouble convincing conservatives he's one of us, because he's had trouble convincing himself over the years to be one of us.
