What happens to the delegates a candidate has collected in the various primaries and caucuses when they drop out before the convention ? I have been searching all over and cannot really find an explanation about this. Do the delegates get to choose who they want to vote for ? Does the resigning candidates endorsement of another candidate impact that decision ? Does they go to the 2nd place winner in the state etc ? I'm sure it varies by state etc. How does this work ?

A Rock Island man with a history of mental health problems was sentenced to 10 years in prison Monday for robbing a Moline Kwik Shop of $22 while armed with a knife and a Winnie the Pooh doll. Short vanity about the IL 6th congressional district debates. In church today I learned that Al Jazeera had its own press team covering the most recent Roskam/Duckworth debates. I have not been able to find this reported anywhere in print or web. I'm curious how often this has been happening in house level races around the country and no one is bothering to report on it.
