The left and their enablers will eventually have to be rounded up. I have a couple of questions. Do you have a list prepared? What would you do with them once they were rounded up? How would you define 'enable'?

If you’ve ever wondered what could lead the German people to allow extermination camps, look to the left and wonder no more. Would you please elaborate a bit on what you mean.

Is the article than saying that what the GOP is a mean, angry man? Cause, we here is Germany have some experience with a particular leader of that variety and it didn’t turn out too well. Reagan was a nice guy too.

Well, apparently Sean Hannity agrees with me. Soon you will too. Or you will go away mumbling to yourself as you fashion your tin foil hats.

It is because of individuals like yourselves that we lost so badly. I very much hope that you leave the party. Form something else and let the GOP’s tent grow. Thanks for going away.

Uh, illegal immigrants are by their very illegal nature somewhat persecuted and that what I was talking about. Not Latino citizens.

The hard line taken during the primaries with”self-deportation” or a rougher equivalent of otherwise hardworking, good people is the problem citizen-Latinos appear to have. Otherwise they are very family-values oriented.

The gay marriage aspect is totally out of the picture. It’s a lost cause so give it up. The majority of Americans support it and so it is no suprise that Latinos as a subset do too.

As an admitted fiscal Republican, I just don’t give a flip about what people do in the privacy of their own homes and if two people want to get married so be it.

We need to come to the realization that the full GOP platform simply does not appeal to enough Americans. Individuals within the tent are welcome to be more conservative than others, but if the party actually wants to get in power and stop the liberal tide, we may just have to accept that certain issues need to be abandoned for the time being. Purity of belief may be the way into heaven, but it is surefire loser in democratic politics.

    And massive voter fraud.

Wow, this is the first time I have read this old and tired shibboleth. Do you have any proof or are you just one of those "stabbed in the back" wing-nuts?

If you continue to use this as an excuse for not assessing what went wrong and making the necessary adjustments, you better get used to losing.

Ronald Reagan wouldn’t have beaten Obama yesterday

Demographically true, but I disagree. What Reagan would have done (and W. did to some extent) was to recognize the demographics and silence the nativists. America's problem is not hardworking people wanting to come and live in America - which is the case for the overwhelming majority of illegals. They are not bad people and most people know that and the Latino citizens (natural conservatives) take great offense at their persecution.

I am most certainly all for enforcing the law, but the law, in this case, is broken. Thus, we need tobe clear that the GOP will NEVER AGAIN win the White House until it makes peace with the Latino community and comes up with a plan for dealing with the illegals that doesn't involve deportation or splitting families.

  • Russian attack sub discovered just 200 miles from the East Coast and given safe harbor...

    Two things:

    1. The grammar of my sentence makes it seems like I am not aware that the sub is an attack sub due to the placement of “but it isn’t”. What I meant was that it was not incendiary because we are not in a state of conflict with Russia.

    2. What would you suggest that the US do when those subs approach the US coast? Should we sink down some depth charges and start a war? Also, isn’t 200 miles the extended economic zone. Anything beyond it - and the article does not indicate that it was closer than this - would still be completely international waters.

In my experience, most Americans have absolutely no idea of what Europe is like. Moreover, they tend to confuse the particular problems in one country with the entire continent. A bit like thinking the worst neighbor is the representative of the neighborhood. So, unless you actually KNOW something about Europe, perhaps you should use a different reference.

Absurd and silly election time exageration. We are not at war with Russia. 200 miles is international waters. It was a friendly gesture and would be expected to be reciprocated. If a US sub was off the coast of Russia and they refused safe harbor and there was an accident what would we say? By calling it an “attack sub” it is made to sound incendiary, but it isn’t.

Nop specific weather event can ever be conclusively “blamed” on climate change. The climate change argument is that in the context of an overall warming trend, the likelihood of extreme events outside of the the standard deviation dramatically increases. This is a “flattening of the curve” that you see as the most likely weather during a given month.

This storm was unprecedented and therefore a “black swan” event that was way off of the likely weather occurrence curve (which is another way of saying climate). If the probability of such an event has now increased due to climate change, then one might see a cause and effect. If it merely was a “royal flush” and the deck of cards is still the same then it was not.

Alas, what I just described is far beyond the comprehension of the average individual so we get massive stupidity on both sides of the debate.

Do Javanese and Indonesian mothers fondle their infant sons’ genitalia?

I don't know what they do with their sons, but if you have a massage in a nice hotel in Jakarta, they aren't shy about it. (sorry, couldn't help myself to write that)

Interesting, but the author seems to be making some basic mistakes in confusing Muslims with Arabs. At the very end he corrects / reveals himself by stating that this is about Arabs and not necessarily Islam.

This is my take as well. Islam is not exactly the most peaceful religion, but the way most Indonesians practice it (and I have spent a lot of time there) it is really pretty laid back. Moreover, in stark contradiction to this gentleman’s thesis, Javenese culture puts a very high value on controlling one’s emotions.

Thus, it is perhaps the Arab cultural norms that should be condemned here. As a Arab religion, Islam reflects them, but I would venture to guess that Arabs were like this long before Muhammad talked to Gabriel.

Lastly, the author is also contradicting Muslims and Westerners. This is, for me, a bit of apples and oranges. He seems to want to avoid saying Christianity for some reason but that is the appropriate contrast to Muslims or to use Arabs / Middle Easterners in contrast to Westerners.

Either his thinking is sloppy or he has an agenda that goes beyond this mediocre analysis.

Hitler came to power as Chancellor under the Weimar Republic in a fully legal manner. Of course in a parliamentary system the largest party can choose the Prime Minister (or Chancellor). The Nazis never won more than 44% of the vote which was achieved following the appointment of Hitler and when the Nazis used the full power of the state to promote their party. Hitler took absolute power via the enabling acts passed as a result of the burning down of the Reichstag by a Dutch Communist (purportedly). Hope that helps.

Seems like pure Obama derangement syndrome to me. The Libs used to blame Bush for EVERYTHING and there are some out there in on the right who have caught that illness in reverse. Bush didn't plan 9/11 and Obama didn't make this film. It would be nice to think that someone was in control of everything and it was all being done according to a grand plan - nefarious or good. Because then it could be fought and eventually controlled by the “good guys” however you wish to define them. But, aside from God - who allows humans free will and therefore does not intervene in such trivial matters - there is no one out there with the power or capacity to control everything.
