In response to the questions raised by “...fraternizing with the detainee’s daughter...”, “maintaining an inapproprate relationship with an interpreter...”, “possessing pornographic videos...” and “...failing to obey and order...” all of these things are covered by Multi-National Corp - Iraq General Order #1 (MNC-I GO1)which states among other things:

    ---

    2. Prohibited Activities: In accordance with and in addition to USCENTCOM GO-1B, the following activities are prohibited.

Section e: Introduction, purchase, possession, transfer, sale, creation or display of any pornographic or sexually explicit photograph, videotape, CD/DVD, movie, drawing, book, magazine, or similar representation.

Section o: Sexual contact with foreign and local nationals who are not members of coalition forces.

Section p: Cohabitation of males and females except for lawfully married spouses. Married spouses will be allowed to cohabitate provided adequate accommodations are available.

    ---

As to the 'failing to obey and order' it was this that he failed to obey.

Simply put, he failed to do what is expected of every soldier, marine, airman, sailor and government employed civilian in Iraq.

Now all he needs to do is avow that we have already lost the war in Iraq, and he’s a shoo in for a Pentagon position, with the Democrats in charge that is.

Since it's Austin, I'm sure they also teach condom use to 4 year olds, how to get an abortion, that Republicans are evil and spankings aren't always for the naughty so long as you use a safe-word. After all, you have to have priorities in your curriculum. ABCs comes in dead last in that lineup.

This situation is rapidly escalating into a quagmire of Vietnam-like proportions. We should have an exit-strategy for the police before we commit them to that portion of the world. We shouldn't risk the lives of our sons and brothers just so the big corporations can keep making money from gumbo. Nagin lied! /sarc off

Its the smile on her face that gets me. Its the same smile she gives every time she gets arrested, and much like the one with her and Jesse Jackson (Stuck on stupid). If I was protesting against the government "for" my dead son, I don't think I'd be enjoying it nearly as much as she seems to be.

Man, it just burns me up to know that the public servants out there are earning more than a servile person should. I mean, don't these people essential to the public order and safe living know that it is their place to toil away for only a meager salary, which after rent and utilities and bills, should only allow them a few hundred dollars to live on?! The very idea of paying these people for actual overtime worked is just outrageous! How dare they even attempt to bill for that? If this continues, some of these lowly police officers who daily work in areas that you wouldn't even drive through might get the impression that they were worth something.

    A few points to consider:

    1) Didn't the Dems learn in 2004? Why in God's name would they allow Kerry open his mouth about anything related to military service this close to an election? Republicans: Give a quick round of applause to Kerry's staff speech writer for getting us closer on this one.

    2) Kerry contends that it was a 'botched joke'. So either the soldiers in Iraq are all stupid school failures in his opinion or their service to the country is worthy of a disrespectful punchline. One or the other. Which one do you think he meant?

    3) Kerry further explained that it was meant as a reference to Bush, not troops and said that it is the president who owes U.S. soldiers an apology for "a Katrina foreign policy." Can anyone explain for me what the hell that's even supposed to mean? How do you put together US foreign policy with a domestic natural disaster exaserbated by a Dem local Mayor and Dem state Governor? Seriously, anyone who can even get close to logical on that statement, let me know.

A point that isn't being addressed from this drivel:

They blamed Roosevelt for missing the signs of Pearl Harbor, they blamed Hoover for the depression, they blamed Lincoln for the Civil war. But most importantly, is the fact they the country closed ranks, dealt with the issue at hand, and then, only when the problem was solved, did we turn to blame-laying.

Seems like the media and left-wing zealots of today have left out an important step in that process. We have to win this war, then and only then can we engage in hindsight. And once we do win, then we can start focusing on the things that Clinton screwed up on and the dog's dinner that was left for President Bush when he took the office.

Thornton's criminal background, dating to 2002, includes convictions of burglary, attempted robbery, retail theft, probation violations, theft, resisting arrest, criminal trespass to a vehicle and domestic battery.

So in four years he racks up all of these crimes, gets released on probation, and only now that he kills a cat is the state attorney proud to get some jail time for the guy.

Everyone is focused on the dead kitten; Shouldn't they be focused on why someone like this is given parole in the first place?

I'm looking forward to the Dems not gaining control in November, not because I loathe them, but because I'll be highly entertained hearing them whine about how the election was 'stolen' from them for whatever psychotic reason they can come up with this time.

Come on, you've got to admit it's pretty funny to hear them refer to any opposition they face as being 'swift-boated' by so-and-so. We've got to change the standard usage of that word to mean: Losing an election due to people pointing out how wrong you are on an issue of your own choosing.

The actual disqualifier is not 'being behind' on student loans but rather being in full default of taxes, governmental fees, student loans or child support.

In Texas a Class A misdemeanor is punishable by up to one year in a county jail and/or a fine up to $4000. Examples of these offenses are assault causing bodily harm, violating a protective order, criminal tresspass, DWI with a prior conviction, theft of $500 or more, burglary of a vehicle, etc.

Again, in Texas, a Class B misdemeanor is punishable by up to 180 days in a county jail and/or a fine of up to $2000. Examples of these would be indecent exposure, disorderly conduct, first time DWI, making terroristic threats, theft of $50 or more.
  • Rioters' Madness Shames Muslim World

The Holy Father makes a comment regarding the evil of religion which is 'spread by the sword' and mainstream Islam tries to refute his statement (not even his statement, but a quote from a historical exchange 600 years ago) by rioting in the streets, burning representations of the highest religious authority for more than one billion Christians, and attacking Catholic churches with rifles and firebombing.

Riots and destruction at the mere suggestion they should accept the evil done in the name of thier religion or that a copy of the Koran was held in the close vacinity of a toilet bowl, but no apologies for the destruction of churches or the blatant anti-Semetic, anti-Christian rhetoric spewed forth daily from leaders in the Islamic world.

I'm convinced; they really are a peace-loving people.

They should be very careful about what they decide to shout at these criminals. Scripted speeches for each perceived offense perhaps? After all, you don't want to, in any way, offend or emotionally hurt these lawless yobs.

Murder - 'Sir, we hearby gently request that you stop stabbing that old woman. If you feel that you are a victim of societies pressures on you or you are addicted to any substance, then once you are finished, please come to a local victims assistance center so we can help you press charges on that old woman.'

Only in Britian can you be fined by the police for cursing at the habitual vandals and hooligans they refuse to deal with and jailed for defending your home and property from vicious thugs in the middle of the night after you've been robbed five times already.
  • Heart Attack Patient Dies In ER Waiting Room- Ruled a Homicide

    09/16/2006 10:55:36 PM PDT · 95 of 320
    DMedic91B to 60Gunner

Having worked in a Level 1 trauma center for 10 years, I can agree with some of the points made by the other posters here. However, some of the other comments have served to remind me why I no longer work in public healthcare and why the average service life for an ER nurse is 8.5 years in my part of the country.
Sure: Chest pain + SOB (shortness of breath)+ nausea = Cardiac until ruled out, but not every patient will present with these symptoms or even admit to them in as many words even when fully assessed at triage. Remember that another factor to add to the classic cardiac presentation is denial:
"Ma'am/Sir, are you having any chest pain?"
"No, I just have a little twinge... but I've had that for years. Its not a problem"
"What about shortness of breath or any difficulty breathing?"
"Not really.. I mean I'm a smoker and have been for years and I've got good days and bad days."
Now, lets continue this hypothetical: You are the triage nurse in one of the busiest ERs in town. Its a Friday night at 11pm. The next largest ER across town just when on ambulance diversion which closes thier doors to ambulance traffic (usually due to being already overwhelmed) and as a result there are 5 EMS units en route to your facility from all over town. Your high acuity section is already full with gunshot wounds, screaming suicidal drug overdoses, cardiac cases and acute surgical cases which take up the lion's share of the availale staff. Your routine treatment section is full of 'non-specific abdominal pains' and 'Migrane Headache x3 weeks' patients which will take hours to diagnose and clear, and your minor emergency section is full and they should have closed 3 hours ago. There is about a 6 hour wait for a patient that is triaged with a 'routine' complaint.
So here you sit with a patient who isn't very clear with you about why exactly they have come in tonight, you're having to chase them all over triage just to nail them down to a chief complaint of: 'My chest is kinda sore' and you've got a line of eight other people waiting for you to triage and the line isn't getting any shorter. Your 'Sore Chest' patient's vital signs are good and they have no significant personal, family history or even a good history of present illness so you classify them 'Urgent' and sit them down in the waiting room.
Now you try to get the other eight people triaged, and for every one you see, two walk in. One of the people walking in pretends to faint so they can go to the top of the list; this ties you up for 15 minutes. Other patient's family member starts screaming at anyone wearing a hospital badge that he knows the CEO of the hospital and we'd better take is wife with her earache that she's had for 30 minutes to see a doctor NOW, dammit.
You've dealt with all of this, and you aren't even one hour into your shift yet.
Think about dealing with this 12 hours a day. Consider this before coming to the emergency room in the middle of the night on a weekend for a problem that you've had for weeks. And take all this into account before you start talking about how the nursing staff and doctors 'should be charged with depraved indifference to human life.'
