A few points to consider:
1) Didn't the Dems learn in 2004? Why in God's name would they allow Kerry open his mouth about anything related to military service this close to an election? Republicans: Give a quick round of applause to Kerry's staff speech writer for getting us closer on this one.
2) Kerry contends that it was a 'botched joke'. So either the soldiers in Iraq are all stupid school failures in his opinion or their service to the country is worthy of a disrespectful punchline. One or the other. Which one do you think he meant?
3) Kerry further explained that it was meant as a reference to Bush, not troops and said that it is the president who owes U.S. soldiers an apology for "a Katrina foreign policy." Can anyone explain for me what the hell that's even supposed to mean? How do you put together US foreign policy with a domestic natural disaster exaserbated by a Dem local Mayor and Dem state Governor? Seriously, anyone who can even get close to logical on that statement, let me know.

Kerry further explained that it was meant as a reference to Bush The lefties are saying the joke was; "Education, blah, blah, you can do really well in America. But if you don't do your homework like Bush, you get stuck in Iraq."
He may well have intended to say that, but IMO, he said exactly what he felt.
I sincerely believe we just saw the end of John Kerry's political career.
