OROFINO, Idaho -- There are Idahoans who like hearing the howl of wolves in their state. There are Idahoans who are ambivalent about federal efforts to restore the predator. Those folks were scarce Saturday, when about 300 people gathered at Orofino High School for a fund-raiser aimed at making Idaho wolf-free. The money raised is for lobbying the state Legislature to sue federal agencies over wolf reintroductions that have led to a booming population. "Save State's Rights, Kill A Wolf!" read a bumper sticker available at the event. Of course, to kill a wolf without good cause is a federal...

As we approach the year 2000 and the end of the age, chaotic events continue to manifest more frequently and with greater intensity like the birth pains of a woman in labor (Matt. 24:3-7). As these events continue to increase, a multitude of different voices are attempting to explain the madness concerning the end of the age. Sifting through the Godless secular voices is not too difficult for most Christians. However, discerning the many voices claiming to be Christian is much more difficult. Scripture teaches us that more and more false apostles, prophets, and teachers would arise within the church...

God doesn't want us to be scared. But even when we do feel fear, we can choose to trust God and take action. God wants us to be totally free from fear. He doesn't want us to live in torment, and He doesn't want fear to stop us from confidently doing what He tells us to do. When we have a deep understanding concerning God's perfect unconditional love for us, we realize He will always take care of everything that concerns us — that knowledge eventually delivers us from fear. As we have experience with God and see that He...

Tom Bergerud from British Columbia, Canada, had more dire predictions about wolves. “I predict that you’re going to have major impacts from wolves in this state (Idaho,) I predict a major elk decline”. He said, "I saw wolves repeatedly depress moose, caribou and elk populations while studying them throughout Canada, (from where these wolves came) and in some cases they wiped out local populations of caribou. “I’ve watched herd after herd (of caribou) go "EXTINCT" across Canada", he said. The problem is that wolves have no known predators to keep them in balance with the ecosystem. Indigenous wolves weighed only...

WASHINGTON – Everyone knows Sen. Bill Frist, R-Tenn., is the upper house's only physician. But who is this man who appears likely to become the next Senate majority leader? Sen. Bill Frist Opponents of abortion on demand are likely to be deeply disappointed. While Trent Lott, R-Miss., had promised to bring to the floor for a quick, early vote a bill restricting partial-birth abortion, Frist championed the nomination by President Clinton of former Surgeon General David Satcher, a fervent supporter of unrestricted abortion and someone who actually performed abortions. Satcher continued to serve in the Bush administration until earlier this...

In light of the recent terrorist attacks, the whole world is stirred up and asking questions. For anyone who has had their eyes even half way open, these events should not have been surprising; shocking, horrifying, and sickening, but surely not surprising. Not only that, it was certainly planned to be much, much worse. Thank God for His protection in so many ways that we have no way of knowing about. It has been brought to our attention very vividly at the World Trade Center bombings in 1993 and subsequent actions that have come to light that there are people...

Yellowstone is Dying: An Affidavit/Article to Secretary of Interior Gail Norton presented on our behalf by United States Senator Conrad Burns June 1, 2002 By Robert Fanning, Jr. This article is in "Range Magazine" in this months edition, I wrote it and request that you post it, wolf recovery is about land and business confiscation. The issue 20 or 30 years ago was whether to have wolves introduced into the Yellowstone Ecosystem. That is no longer the issue; NOW, the issue is how many wolves and who decides. Wolf recovery targets the common man, the poor and the voiceless. The...

DES MOINES (DTN) -- When gray wolves were reintroduced to Yellowstone National Park during the mid-1990s, it started a heated debate between wildlife enthusiasts and ranchers that has never cooled down. The ongoing clash of opinions recently hit the airwaves. Residents in Bozeman, Mont., are the first in the nation to hear anti-wolf radio messages paid for by the Montana Stockgrowers Association. The messages, which will air for the next 60 days, were created to call urban attention to the economic impacts on ranchers caused by wolves, said Steve Pilcher, executive vice president of the Montana Stockgrowers Association. Bozeman was...

A minute-long prayer invoking the name of Jesus Christ has cost a Christian conservative his job, according to longtime political activist Dennis Mansfield. "The irony is the very man being prayed for fired me," Mansfield told WorldNetDaily. Parents Television Council, or PTC, hired Mansfield in September to serve as the organization's executive director, but abruptly fired him after he invited a colleague and Episcopal minister to offer a prayer closing an awards ceremony and fund-raising event on Nov. 14. "It was a normal, ordinary prayer," Ted Baehr, chairman of the Christian Film and Television Commission and the man who delivered...

The United States government is doing everything it can right now to tone down any anti-Islamic remarks coming out of the "Christian right." Even President Bush is continuing to paint Islam as "a peaceful religion that respects others." Yet all one has to do is turn on the nightly news that reveals a different image of Islam. It looks like Washington's political leadership is trying to box up any Christian voice that might make a negative commit about Islam as anti-American. What's up with that? Maybe we are missing something here. Without being disrespectful to a Republican leadership that was...

Dear Editor: This is a response to a pro wolf advocate stating that there has never been an attack by a "HEALTHY" wolf in North America, July 8,002 15 By Joy York, It has been widely discussed whether a healthy wild wolf has ever attacked a human on this continent. In fact, many say such attacks have never occurred in North America. HISTORY STATES OTHERWISE! It depends on which century you want to research wolves attacking and killing humans,1800's, 1900's or 2000's. Noted naturalist documented wolf attacks on humans. John James Audubon, of whom the Audubon society is named, reported...

Eric Barker An Orofino man is licking physical and emotional wounds after wolves attacked his horses on the Little North Fork of the Clearwater River. One horse had its back broken during the attack and two more where chased off by the wolves and have not been seen for more than a week. Bror Borjesson, who lives between Orofino and Lenore, fears that they are dead and he has lost not only three horses but three pets. "We think they have been run out into the brush by the wolves and eaten," he said. "It's just a bad deal." Borjesson...

I have been enjoying FreeRepublic for some time but have never joined in until now. I am busy working on two county commissioner races here in Idaho. Both of my candidates are Vietnam Vets, one a Marine and one from the Army. We are, at the moment, designing their signs. My question is: Would it be appropriate to put some kind of Vietnam Vet, Marine, or Army symbol on the sign? If so, do any of you have suggestions?
