I have my friends and family members trained not to call between 11 and 2 lest I have to miss Rush. But last week I had phone calls with customer service representatives from Comcast and Verizon plus an issue with the main sewer line which required the city's Utility Department to come and dig up part of my yard. Since I have no control over these CSRs or the city's Utilities Department, Murphy's lousy law always seems to kick in when I have to deal with these kinds of situations causing me to miss a lot of Rush's show. When...

My dog Jazz recently had 3 seizures. They were about 1 to 2 weeks apart, and each time they occurred at the same time each morning (4:50 a.m.). They were brief in duration, lasting only about a minute or two (although it seemed like an eternity). Each time she lost control of her bladder. Afterward, she seemed dazed and bewildered for a few minutes, then she bounced back as if nothing had happened. She's diabetic, but any connection with the diabetes has been ruled out by the vet. I know there are dogs who live with seizures, and this may...

Dear Moses and Apostle Paul, I’m sure you are aware of the brouhaha here in the USA regarding some statements made by a Christian man named Phil Robertson. In the midst of this controversy, we have had the good fortune to have been enlightened by Bernard “Bernie” Goldberg, noted journalist and author. It’s that new information imparted by Mr. Goldberg that necessitates this letter. Please be advised that it has been determined that the lists of sins that the Holy Spirit wrote through you in Exodus, Leviticus, Deuteronomy and Corinthians have been decreed by Mr. Goldberg to be the words...

Anyone play Words With Friends? If so, have you ever tried to play the word "zot"? Would you believe the system won't accept it? Whaaaaaaat??? Apparently they don't understand the influence FR has on the culture! A couple of years ago when I was fairly new to the game, I thought I was about to make an impressive move. I had the "z" sitting on a triple letter square, and I was creating two words using the triple z twice (vertically and horizontally). It was going to be my highest scoring word to date. I was so proud. Then I...

If you have Obama rent-a-mob demonstrators in your area today, here's your sign. Print it out. Show up. Spend money. Fight back.

Dear Secretary Powell: I understand you were a guest on one of the Sunday chat shows and listed a few things that Republicans have said that indicate that they harbor underlying racism. I believe you called it “a dark vein of intolerance.” Your examples were: 1) Shuckin’ and jivin’ 2) Lazy, accompanied by the unspoken but certainly implied “shiftless,” not to even mention that reallllly unspoken third word. I confess that those dog whistles are much too high for my ears, but that could be because I’m in my 60s. I would never have dreamed that using those terms regarding...

This is long but an interesting, if blunt, perspective on the magnitude of Katrina's aftermath. Not sure who the writer is but this has been posted on some bulletin board discussions of the disaster. Lead, Follow, Or... by Jeffers Ok, the President has spoken, and I believe it is now time for all of us to being speaking bluntly. It has been my policy for the last few days to look for and point up the brightest news I could find, because I knew what we might be facing long before Katrina ever made landfall. In my opinion, the time...

Lone protester we saw while standing in line. I reminded him that if ours were a police state, he wouldn't be able to stand there holding that sign. Protesters (Rent-a-Mob) across the street from where we were lined up. More protesters Supporters Some Young Republicans Club students from Rice University Mr. President (note his placecard on the table) Precious little girl who was given the president's placecard. She was a VERY happy camper! I sat next to these handsome young law students. I told them I'd post their pics online and maybe find them some women. ;) Left to...

One-in-Four Americans to Watch Academy Awards; Democrats Far Outnumber Republicans in Audience; Blacks More Likely to Watch than Whites; Rock Emerges in Crystal's Shadow, New Zogby Poll Reveals When Chris Rock hosts the 77th Annual Academy Awards Sunday night, he will command the attention of one-quarter (25%) of American adults, a new Zogby Interactive survey finds. If Rock fails to rise to the occasion, though, those adults may find themselves longing for the past Oscars host they consider the best-ever: Billy Crystal. The interactive poll of 22,126 American adults nationwide was conducted from February 18 to 23, 2005, and has...

ABC13 Eyewitness News (12/15/04 - HOUSTON) — A Richmond couple is upset at a Sugar Land pet store they say gave away their beloved Pomeranian to a stranger. Jana Brown says she dropped off her purebred Pomeranian named Mercedes to a Sugar Land Petco to get groomed more than a week ago, just as she has done dozens of times before. The Democratic Party and its presidential candidates for 20 years have embraced Sodomy, infanticide and Socialism. Jamming scissors into the base of babies skulls at the moment of birth and suctioning out their brains (Partial-Birth Abortion) is something John Kerry has repeatedly voted to continue. While this may well be Kerrian, Christ plunged no blades into babies, thus the crime cannot be called CHRIST-ian. Nor is the defender of abortion Christian, the sin being irreconcilable with the Lamb of God. But who, after the Clinton years, still claiming that party without hanging his head can be taken seriously, anyway? When...

On Wednesday I installed a Kodak photo disk and it seems to make my computer go haywire. I uninstalled it, but I don't think it removed everything. I keep getting pop-ups from freegiftworld.com and shoplet.com, and I know FR doesn't have pop-ups. Also, I get a file download box trying to install a file called "search" from search.yahoo.com. Can anyone tell me how to remedy this? Isn't there a way to reconfigure your computer back to the date before you installed something? Would that help? I appreciate any help you can give me, especially if it's in plain English, as...

All of a sudden I can't tab through the fields on an online form. Instead when I hit the tab key, it toggles between windows. Does anyone know how I can switch it back so that it takes me to the next field rather than switches to another window? It's driving me NUTS!

I am curious about Mrs. Kerry's citizenship. Is she a citizen of Mozambique as well as a citizen of America? Does anyone know off the top of their head? Thanks.

I Got'cher Apology, Right Here J. D. PendryIt is a good rule in life never to apologize. The right sort of people do not want apologies, and the wrong sort take a mean advantage of them. - from The Man Upstairs, P. G. Wodehouse, 1914 I had a great week. My bride and I spent our 31st wedding anniversary at Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. Thanks to those of you that sent your condolences to my wife. We were unplugged for a week. No computers, no phones, no news and no concerns. The toughest decision we made all week was if we...
